OMG this Wii is adding up...

All my kids talk about is Santa hopefully bringing them a Wii - so far be it for me to disappoint.

Got the Wii, got 4 or 5 games - now I am told I need more controllers. Not just one controller but 3 more sets of 2 controllers (so they can all play together). Just went to Bestbuy to get them - add on another $200.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think I am up to about $700 now.....Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: OMG this Wii is adding up...

You don't need 4 knuckchucks...
2 would be fine...

Did you buy Wii Play? Wii Play is a game filled with 9 minigames and comes with a controller for 50 bucks...so in logic, you are buying a controller and a 10 dollor game...

If you shop right, you can get a ton of wii game for a fraction of the price... bunch of 15-20 dollor kids, espcially for kids...

He told me I needed 4 nunchucksChat Icon

Please tell me what I need because I don't get this whole thing.

I have the whole bundle thing - the console, 1 remote and 1 nanchuk.

I bought WiiPlay which comes with another controller (or is it a nunchuck)?

I have a game (I think it was the Mario Sonic Olympic one) that all four kids can play at the same time, so he told me to add on 3 more nunchucks and 2 more controllers.

Do I have too much stuff? What does the nunchuck do and what does the controller do? I feel such a moron with this thing.

Re: OMG this Wii is adding up...

I bought my nephew a controller charger...because the battery life on them isn't all that great...he's constantly changing the batteries.

All the games use the Wiimotes, so with 4 kids, it is good to have the 4 of them.

The nunchuks attach to the Wiimotes for specific games or minigames. It is used for boxing in Wii sports, but that's only two player. For some Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games games, DH says that you would need 4 nunchuks for all the kids to play together. Same goes for a few of the minigames in Mario Party 8. He can't think of any other reason for kids games that you might need 4 nunchuks, but that's just based on the games we have.

The 4 Wiimotes are good to have. We have 4 even though it's just the two of us, b/c we're always playing with others.

I also agree you dont need the extra nunchucks. They will be very busy with the 4 controllers used for all the games you have. Nunchucks arent used/needed as much.

And besides, see what games they like the best. If they happen to like a game that needs them, you can always buy them later on.

Mario Party 8 and the Wii Sport have so many games within itself, it'll be fine. (Wii Sport and sometimes Mario 8 will come with your set depending which package you have).

At this point, dont buy anything else, you have plenty

Re: OMG this Wii is adding up...

The only time I cans ee using 4 nunchucks is in Mario Party 8, but you don't NEED them to play the game. it's good to have though, I guess.

We have 4 controllers and 2 nunchuks.

The thing that looks like a remote control is the Wiimote, the controller, that you need for every player..the thing that has a little joystick on it is the nunchuck, used only in certain games, and in my experience, mainly in one player games..even for the 2 player mode of Mario Galaxy (GREAT game btw) only the 1st player needs the nunchuk. So I don't think you NEED 4 nunchuks, but they're good to have. WiiSports comes with a Wiimote, not a nunchuk.

Which games did you buy?

Re: OMG this Wii is adding up...

mario party 8 doesn't use the chucks...
i actually took that game back..it was fun, just took a long time to play and not exactly the party game it was back in the day...

i don't have mario/sonic so i can't comment on that.

the chuck is by the game..so see what games you have, on the back, it will indicate if it needs it or not....

Which games did you buy?

I bought Mario Galaxy, Mario Sonic Olympics, Pokemon Battle Revolution and Horsez 2 (my daughter is a horse freak). Then I have sport games the console came with and whatever came with WiiPlay.

that's why I think buying bundles is better. it's way more $ up front, but you also get a lot.
