OMG! DH's IDIOTIC friend struck again!
So last time we had dinner just the 4 of us wiht his girlfiend (the summer) he tells me that Jordana is so restless at the table because I kept her in the stroller too much that day! HELLO, you weren't WITH ME ALL DAY! And who the heck are you to comment on what I do with my kid.
Well tonight he did it again. First he suggests that look for a new apartment (we live in a 1 bedroom) because there are a lot of no fee rental apartments available now. Fine. Nothing too bad.
Then he asks me isn't it getting a little cramped in our 1 bedroom. Yes. Of course. And we are moving in September. 
So Jordana is fussing adn we let her out of the high chair. We were the only ones on the floor at the restaurant. She ran around and was so happy. He comments well she's stuck in a 1bedroom, its not even a 2 bedroom.
Then I proceed about how she loves to walk on the street, and she just runs with the biggest smile and laughing. He says "I would too if I was stuck in a 1bedroom all day." 
Then he tells me how his sister's kids were raised in a big house in LI. Well his neices are much olde. He says, but still they were raised in a big house, not such a small space. I just lost it and ask him why he is commenting on how I raise my DD? And then it turned ugly. DH was chasing after DD and stayed out of it.
he goes on to tell me that he can say whatever he wants and if I get upset tough. He was talking about his family and is not commenting on how I raise my DD. HELLO!!! YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MY DAUGHTER AND THE SIZE OF MY APARTMENT!! He goes on to say he won't be censored and doesn't live in a communist country. And that when he apologized last time he should have, but did it to keep the peace. Because he doesn't MEAN TO OFFEND, there is no reason to apologize!!!
So now I tell him fine, we won't hang out together. He can hang out with DH without me.
G-D I CAN"T STAND THIS GUY!!! I just wish DH would cut him out of his life, but no. DH won't do that.  I just can't stand him.
And I feel so bad for his gf. They had such a fight because last week he said something racist in front of her roommate and the roommate got into something with him. At least I hope she realizes that if she is going to stay with him, there will be plenty of battles.

I would never agree to have them over or go out with them again. THere is no reason he shoudl comment on how you raise your own child. Especially if he doesnt even have one of his own.
My DH would have told him off.

I did. He saw it happening but didn't realize what the topic was. He intervened in the end, but played it way too neutral for my taste. DH only heard my side once we left the restaurant.

Idiot!
I did and told him that. We went through this once before and i had to take a month without seeing him. But now, nothing will get me to see him again in a small group. And to think- we were talking about all going away together.

It is obvious that this guy started the evening with a huge chip on his shoulder. He is always going to go out of his way to push your buttons and then blame you if you react to it. I don't think that this is a true friendship for you or for your DH.

Best way to deal with someone like this (JMHO) is to be as BRUTALLY honest with them as they are w/ you.
I would have said "well, maybe being raised in a small space, she won't turn out to be a pompous, conceited azz like you" or something to take effect. AND if he gets upset, say "it's a free country, I WILL NOT be censored, when I see someone acting like a complete AZZHOLE I feel compelled to tell them"  That should shut him up or cause enough DRAMA where he will stop talking to your DH. When people act this way the 1/2 of me that is Sicilian comes out and my blood boils.
Sorry you had to deal with that idiot!

OMGosh how rude!! I am so sorry you have to deal with that crap!
Maybe once DH sees you will no longer attend things while this friend is present, your DH will realize that the friend is a jerk and you meant business.
I don't blame you for not wanting to go out while he is present anymore. I know I wouldn't.

That's right the government won't throw him in jail for saying azzinine things to his friend's wife. However, if he knows anything about relationships, he knows wife trumps azzhole friends.
I say leave him in Siberia because next time he wants to GTG, you're busy.
