thank you for this. I knew about it and thought I had my gps tracking on my pics off but I went in and i didn't. I now have it off for facebook.
Facebook removes metadata from pics you post on it anyway, so the gps data is not retained. For other websites, you can remove metadata yourself.
I have to double check, but I'm pretty sure than when you use iphone or android facebook app, it keeps the metadata.
Eta: I wish the droid browser did spell check though

Just checked my droid and the geo setting was turned to off. I never tried to touch it before, so maybe the factory setting is automatically set to off. Very scary.
