OMG! Is she allergic? (Pics)
Chelsea got a cut on her back at daycare the other day. When we got home I put a band-aid on it.
Today I went to take the band-aid off and this is what it looked like:
(The cut is the small round spot in the middle which still has me going because it is perfectly round)
Do you think she is allergic to band-aids? How can that be? Do you think I should put something on it?
It looks worse in person

Wow, I would definitely think she had some kind of reaction to the bandaid or the adhesive. I'm not sure what to put on it.

Re: OMG! Is she allergic? (Pics)
Was it a latex bandage? If it was, you should absolutely get her tested for a latex allergy. That could lead to anaphalexia (sp?) if she is in contact with latex later in life. Was it another brand bandage (other than bandaid)? My dad is allergic to the adhesive used in Curad bandages (of all things!) but can use any other kind.
Otherwise, it may have just been on her skin too long. Put some bacitracin on it and see how it is on the morning

It was Band-aid brand. They were Dora and she was so excited showing everyone. It was on for about two days....
I guess I'll be calling the ped in the morning.
I don't have bacitracin...what about A&D?

Re: OMG! Is she allergic? (Pics)
oooo WoW that is definitely a reaction to either the bandaid OR the adhesive! Do you have any benadryl gel you can rub on it? I don't think A&D will hurt but it may not help too much with a topical rash like that!

Crashing, but this happens to me when I wear certain band aids. The welts look just like that.
Does your daughter have eczema or any other allergies? Try putting some cortisone cream on it. This helps me when I have a reaction.
Hope she feels better
ETA: in my case it's a reaction to the glue, not the latex.

Re: OMG! Is she allergic? (Pics)
DS has had a reaction similar to this (not as bad) after leaving a band aid on too long. He wouldn't let me take it off. He doesn't react if I am able to take it off in a short period of time. Did she take a bath with it on and leave it on after? I think that's what gave my DS the reaction. I would call the ped in the am anyway just to be sure.

Hmm, strange that it was a band-aid I really don't think it was an allergy per se (I am not a doctor though!!) as I always thought band-aid was non-allergic. It was probably just a reaction to being on for a few days.
Yes, A&D will definitely help

Looks like she might have a latex allergy. I would call the ped and maybe bring the picture with you.

Re: OMG! Is she allergic? (Pics)
she might be allergic to the adhesive. is she saying that's itchy or anything? Cortisone cream will help with bringing down the reaction, and if it's really itchy, you can give her some benadryl. There is no need to do neosporin or anything like that unless there are open area's, like on the cut. It's not the first time she's used band-aids right? It could be a latex allergy if you've used them before. Usually, latex allergies present after having past exposure, like you've used them before and she's had mild irritation, and with every exposure it gets worse and worse. Derfiinatly take the picture to the ped.

She says it doesn't itch or hurt. She has worn band-aids before but never ones from this box and only on her knee.
I will call the ped. Maybe because it was on for 2 days...but the one on her knee (a different type of band-aid) was on her knee for two days too.
She does have sensitive skin. She gets rashes easily.

Same here. I actually cannot wear the foam band aids. I am fine with most other kinds of band-aids including fabric and plastic.

It is a reaction to the adhesive. Band aid brand bandaids are latex free. I get the same thing. My DS and Mom have it really bad. You are going to have to stock up on hypoallergenic bandaids, hard to find and/or hypoallergenic tape and guaze pads...

DD#1 gets the same reaction. I was told it was from the adhesive. Certain bandaids are worse than others.
