Ok..so we got a new tv back in May and still NO BILL For it....
what do we do? Do we contact the store we bought it at and resgin the paper work so they can sell the loan and we get a bill
OR
do we not say anything and wnd up with a free big screen tv???

i think you should say something, or they may try to hit you with some ridiculous interest charges on top of the regular bill!!

How do you figure?
well..we filled out the loan paperwork, then DH gets a call about 1-2 months later that he forgot to sign something, so he goes back in to do so-they give him a $50 gift card for his trouble. So we figure we'll be getting a bill soon. NOPE.
I guess someone there forgot to file the paperwork or send it out to "sell" the loan to an outside financial institution. So...here it is 4 months later and NO BILL from anyone new regarding this tv!!!
It happened to a friend of ours..he bought a SONY plasma and applied for the SONY Card....never got billed for the TV!!!!

I don't know its a tough call. I just think it could be a lot worse if you let it go a really long time and they try to hit you with all kinds of late fees and interest charges.
Also I might feel guilty not ever paying for something but that's your call.

The only thing that would worry me is when they do their next invintory and come up with a missing TV. I mean no one can just walk out with a TV without paying for it.
So I wouldn't want that to be at the end of the year and then they go back track and find you and make you pay all that interest and late fees.

well....DH thinks there is a time limit on a signature on paperwork like that...
then again, it's not our fault they didn't do their job, so I would argue against paying the late fees and what not. We're not the ones who screwed up.
I guess we'll wait and see....

I would not say a word. If you aren't getting bills, then they are not going to be able to charge you fees. If they catch up with you in a year, just say I thought it was no intrest no payments for a year.

What are you going to say when they do send you a bill with all that interest added up and compounded on your bill at 25% or whatever their interest rate is.
When you say "I never got the bill"... they will reply with... "Well you knew you bought a TV and its your responsiblity to follow up with the payment... regardless if you get a bill or not."
I would get in touch with them ASAP and find out where you can mail your payment.

I agree with Rich, on what you signed there was a promise to pay, and I'm sure it had a timeframe. They'll ask you why you didn't call them to get the info to pay. I agree, they're stupid, they should bill you if they want your money, but you also have the responsibility to pay whether they bill you or not. Also, let's say you did get it for 'free." I think if that happenned to me I'd feel really guilty about it every time I looked at the TV. if it were a small thing lik they forgot to charge you for the mi;k at the grocery store, I'd say let it go, it's their problem, but with something as big as a TV, someone is going to end up gettng in trouble for it or paying for it, and you may end up with some huge bill!
ETA I took out a secured loan once for school. They never sent me a bill. it was their error, but I was still considered in default and they took the $$ I was securing it with

Its really simple.
If you bought this on one of your credit cards.... and the charge is not showing up on your monthly statement... then its not your problem and don't call them.
But if you opened up a new credit card to buy this TV and you haven't received a bill... better get in touch with them ASAP on this.

Yeah I forgot to add that this same thing happened with me. My DH ( boyfriend at the time) opened a new CC at circuit city and bought me my hp laptop. for MONTHS he did not get a bill and I guess he forgot about it. All of a sudden they started to send him a bill with a really high interest rate and all the late charges. He tried to fight it but they said that it wasn't there problem. He knew he had to pay and should have come into the store to pay weather or not he recieved a bill. He called and fought with them for days on this and they would not budge.
ETA: CC does the same thing... you apply at CC but then it goes through another company and then its a X company visa card.

You better call them ASAP. Whats going to happen when they contact you saying you haven't paid? Say you never got the bill and blame the post office? That excuse is not going to fly with them. If you try to fight it... they can destroy your credit if you don't pay.
Hell... even at the bottom of every receipt you have to "sign" when you charge something... it says something to the effect of "customer agrees to pay for this item as part of the terms of the customer's credit agreement".
That sentance says right there you are liable to pay for this... even if you don't get a bill. I am sure your line of credit contract that you signed said something to the same effect.

no, as I recall, it was no interest for 6 months, but we had to pay it off in those 6 months AND THEN the interest would be refunded to us.

Yeah Sandra is right!! thats what happened to DH! It was no interest for X amount of months and all of a sudden when that deal was over we wound up with a big fat bill with high interest rates!
