We have no china at all. When we got married, we decided not to ask for it because we will literally never use it. (we're not china people) We decided we would rather get other nice gifts rather than china.
If I did ask for china though, I'd probably have asked for a setting of 8.

No china. I do have regular dishes from our wedding but I'm not sure how many settings, I'm sure no more than 8 though.

I think 12. My MIL bought us good china for my bridal shower.
I've had it for well over a year and a half and never used one thing.
Ironically, the first time it will be used is on Christmas Eve when my MIL is hosting dinner at our house!

i have 6, but we just got married - i think my parents will probably get us the rest of ours for our anniversaries.
as far as everyday china, we have 12 and use 8. (one box is unopened)

i registered for 12 and currently have either 9 or 10 (i can't remember off hand). i will be either asking for the remaining placesettings for gifts or purchasing them for myself at some point.
check out www.placesettings.com and see if they carry your pattern. they have really good deals! i got a free soup bowl for my place setting, free shipping, and it looks like right now they also have promo codes ont he site for extra %age off.

I don't have any. We registered for 12 settings and got 3. We returned them because we didn't want to pay for the rest ourselves, and really, we knew we would never use it. So we got a bunch of other stuff instead.

I display four settings in my hutch, but very rarely use it.
I love my Christmas china and use it starting the day after Thanksgiving

I have 8 additonal solid white every day plates that could be used also if I needed more
but first I would need an apartment or house big enough for more then 12 people!

NO idea how this happened, as we only registered for 12 place settings... but we received 16. 
Clearly people were either buying it elsewhere or not taking it off the registry. I have to go return some and get something else we wanted instead...
