Ok, so...let's talk Inception!!!! (SPOILERS)
DH and I just saw this tonight. We both thought it was incredible.
But we both left there wondering...at the end...did the top keep spinning, or did it topple?

omg!
i was yelling at the screen at this movie. i told dh, "it's going to fall, it's going to fall..." andddd cut to black screen. 
great movie, though.
still don't know if it was real or not.

We were analyzing this over and over again...and we both think that it SOUNDED as though it was starting to slow and vibrate at the end...grrrrr!!!
DH thinks they're going to do "Inception 2: The Awakening"

It totally looked like it was going to fall.
I liked the movie, but I had a hard time with the whole "dream within a dream." Like when they were in the dream and would lie down and sleep.
weird.

I've heard rumors that if you stayed through the credits you hear it fall. But then I read online that it wasn't true.

I wasn't crazy about this movie. It drove me nuts...DH had to keep telling me what was going on...I guess it didn't help that I fell asleep for like 10 minutes towards the beginning of the movie!

It was a great movie and that ending was the clincher! I looked at it like a "pick your own ending". If I had to choose, I'd say it toppled!

I don't think it toppled. His children were in the same exact spot and in the same clothes he always sees them in, so to me, it was a memory that he was manipulating....

wow...interesting. So which do you think was his "reality"? I think what I loved most about this movie was that it all seemed so POSSIBLE...and that's what made it scary, too!

I think it was a dream too b/c his kids sounded a lot older in that earlier phone conversation AND they were wearing the same clothes.

I'm reviving this thread because DH and I saw this yesterday.
I thought it was a GREAT movie.
I don't think the top toppled. My take is that it was NOT real, and that when Sato told Leo in the dream, he would honor his word to make sure he could go home to his kids, he knew he was going to end up in that limbo state. Leo in the end said he was going to stay in that limbo state to find Sato. I think Sato "sacrificed" (for lack of a better word) himself in the end so that Leo could be with his kids.
At least that's MY take on it......

I heard the same thing...if you stayed and let all the credits run..you 'heard' the piece fall...not see it fall.
I think this is the type of movie that will never have a definitive answer. There is no right or wrong. I think the fact that he spun the piece and walked away meant he didn't care if this was a dream or reality. He was content.
