Ok... need to vent!!!
Am I married to the biggest id@ot in the world??? I know that sounds mean, and I've never called him that or any other name before in over 13 years, but OMG!!!
You know he's unemployed, and we're about to live off of our credit cards. Well, he accepted this one day contract job (only place to call back about a job ) to make some money at least. Something is better than nothing. Well, he still works his P/T night job. He just called me and said that he called in sick tonight because he might of been late to his night job because of the distance of this job today. OK... why the heck would you call in sick??? The point of working today was to make money, not lose it!!! So by him calling in sick we lost at least 4 hours of pay from that job and this other job is about an hour or so away so that's a lot of gas money. So basically, he didn't make any more money than he would of if he had just stayed home today and just went to work tonight! I swear, I don't know what goes through his head sometimes? What the heck is he thinking??? He is the most difficult man to deal with. Someone better give me some suggestions on how not to yell at him tonight about this. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!
Anyway... thanks for listening!

Has he tried posting an ad for work on Craiglist or searching for people who need work on craigslist? I have friends who do this and have had lots of luck with it.

What does he do/want to do? DH got a job through a recruiter for construction companies - they pay him, he gets benefits, they are the ones that send him out to jobs in the area. He went throught the NJ office which is closer to us but there's a Queens office too. Let me know if you think he would be interested if that's his line of work, I'll find out the name of the recruiter, maybe the Queens office is looking to hire.

Re: Ok... need to vent!!!
Maybe this contract job could lead to more regular work. If in the long run it pays more money then maybe it will be worth it that he skip the PT job one night.
He might have just taken the day job without realizing that he wouldn't be back in time for the PT job. It probably wasn't intentional. Don't beat him up over it. It's not worth it....He was just trying to bring in some extra money and probably just didn't realize the conflict.
