ok i am flipping out now
I dont know if any one heard but stonybrook had a situation going on that involved people's personal information, social security number, Id #.... i know they sent out letter's to the people who it happened too , and GUESS WHAT????? I am one of them... I am totally flipping out and i want to get this taken care as soon as possible i hope it's not going to be a long process!!!ughhhhhhhhhhhhh

UGH, that happened to us with our stock company. They should pay for everything (your credit report etc..) Just make sure you notify all your financial institutions ASAP. Sorry it happened to you

Yeah, it happened to me and 19,000 other people.
what do i do??? i never was in this situation? i know other people were involved and they are probably saying the same thing as me... but it is scary.

Eh, I'm not worrying about it. I'll watch my cc statements and make sure no new bills come in the mail...Apparently they pay for 1 credit report for 3 months, but I doubt anything would show...Just keep your eyes peeled for anything weird.

the letter says you can order a credit report for free. i'm not even bothering right now.

I am one of them, too.
Call the credit reporting agency and put your credit on fraud alert. They will have to call you before anyone can open up any new accounts.

So is DH.............we got the letter in the mail last week..........we will just keep an eye out for now on the credit cards.

My credit is already being monitored because of the TJ maxx thing, but this SBU thing wasn't a huge deal. The info was only accessible if someone searched a person's name and ss# in google.

ITA. You can put a password on your credit reports so no one can open an account.
Watching your credit card statements won't make a difference. The identity thief opens up new cards at different addresses & destroys your credit, while reaping all of the rewards.

My DH got the same letter the other day! I told him he better look into this and do what he has to especially since we plan on buying a house soon we do not need any problems with his credit

I got mine...
It says in there the info was only avaiable for a very short amount of time and you had to put in several very specific search criteria to get in on google...
I am just going to keep an eye on my cards
