Ok-- am I irrational?

So this morning-- we get up and get ready for work. DH is an IT guy and they have been having some server issues-- so, he gets up right away and starts working to sort out the issue-- he is definitely distracted. So, I leave him alone and let him work.

When I am ready to leave-- I go in and say goodbye- kiss him and say Happy Valentines Day. He says, Thank You. So I am sitting there, waiting for him to say it back. When I realize he is not- I say- aren't you going to wish me a Happy V Day too? Then he gets all angry with me and says that he is distracted with the work crisis.

I responded-- well, it's the same amount of effort to say "Thanks" as it is to say "you too". He said- well, I didn't even think of it. Which I would totally understand if I was waiting for him to say it first-- but that was not the case. So I left the apt, with him yelling at me cause now he has to worry about me being mad when he is dealing with an issue at work.

I mean- w t f?? He is more angry at me- than I even was at him for not saying it.

That's cause he knows he's wrong but he doesn't want to admit it right now because he's in the middle of a work situation so he's being a little self absorbed.

He'll get over it and realize that he was in the wrong...he should feel pretty silly later on today...you just sit back and wait. Chat Icon

Retaliation anger is my MO. If I get angrier than DH, he'll back down.

He's probably not as angry as he seems. He's distracted at work but yes it would have taken equal effort to say you too. My guess is he was distracted to the point where he didn't actually hear you say Happy Vday.

I mean- it's so silly but he made it so much worse. Like, how dare I be miffed for him not say Happy V Day.

Re: Ok-- am I irrational?

although I would be a little upset initially...I think after some time went by and I cooled off a little I would just assume that he was consumed with work...and really didn't mean any harm by not returning the Happy V-day.
