Oil Delivery in the snow?

Has anyone ever had a problem? Ours is accessible but they will have to go though the snow to get to it...

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

I've had deliveries in the snow and have seen others get it. Just part of their job.

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

My dad delivers oil and depending on how high the snow is, is whether or not he delivers. If you definitely want a delivery I would shovel a path of some sort and make sure the area is clear.

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

As long as the pipe is clear you should be fine. Our comp tried to make a delivery after the Dec blizzard but we didn't realize the pipe was blocked so they couldn't deliver it. Once we cleared it, we called them back and they delivered the next day even though there was still plenty of snow.

I try to do the same. We arrived home late Wed. night from OOT right after the recent snow. I had planned to shovel out a path this weekend (we had half a tank of oil and I wasn't expecting a delivery yet) but Thursday when I got home from work I found that they had been here and filled the tank. We just had a narrow area shoveled on the driveway and a small footpath to the door. They slogged the hose about 12 - 15 feet through the snow to get it to the pipe to fill it.

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

I never shovel for them bc it would mean shoveling a path on my lawn and that seems odd to me especially since I usually never have any idea when they are gonna come - if theres snow they always just track through it. I feel like they kind of expect it.

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

Bumped to ask - can you even find your pipe for the oil in all the snow???

I realized that between drifting, and snow that got thrown off the porch from shoveling, our oil pipe was completely hidden, and we now have about 16 inches of snow in the yard leading up to the area. With the possiblity of more snow on the way I shoveled out a path to the pipe and cleared the snow away.

Re: Oil Delivery in the snow?

We shoveled a huge shovel size path from the street to the front of our home where our oil drop off is. We figured before it ices up and the driver has a hard time accessing it, we better make a path...the snow is really really high.

Ours is on the lawn too but we didn't shovel down to the ground, plenty of snow beneath protecting the grass but about 2 feet cleared from surrounding area.
