Odd question (re: God & kids)
Without starting drama... (i hope)
When did your children really 'get it' with God. I mean when did they actually understand the concept and believe? Not just when they could repeat the word or get the right reference due to repetition.
Thank you for truthful answers.

Re: Odd question (re: God & kids)
*Totally* dependent on what the parents are "teaching" kwim??? Some families instill the God concept from infancy, say prayers with baby every night, before meals, etc. As language develops they prayers and explanations become more advanced, etc. Kids who are exposed to God and religion would have a broader concept, I suspect; while a kid brought up in a non-religious home, with rare visits to temple/church, might take longer for the concept to develop.
My brother and his wife are VERY active in their parish, Their kids were totally aware of God and saying their own prayers around age 3, iirc?
Heck my neighbor's DOG "prays" with them every night (they trained her to touch her paws together and lay down but it's the cutest freaking thing ever)

Re: Odd question (re: God & kids)
I am not very religious and truthfully havent really talked to DD much about it. However, my boyfriends son goes to religion and so she started asking me questions about why he goes there etc. I explained it and she didnt really understand much at all. She is 4.5.
I think what she said above is exactly right though...its all about how they are brought up and how much it is really talked about from a young age.

This is what I was sort of looking for. At 2 I feel no guilt at not exposing her to church. However I know I want to get her some knowledge while she's young. Just not 'this young' if that makes sense.
I do believe knowledge is power and I want her to have the information but I want her to understand it enough to ask questions and allow me to help guide her (allbeit to what I believe is the truth - but doesn't every parent do that?).
