Being a Southerner for almost 4 months, I can write a book of stupid/odd phrases:
1) Around the bend : W T F is a bend? It is never around the corner when someone says this, it is usually 3 turns and across the street.
2) Is it hot/cold enough for ya? : Obviously when it is 80 degrees it is hot enough. When it is 26 degrees it is cool enough. Thanks for askin'.
3) I'll pray for you: Okay, I don't have an issue with this one, it is very sweet. As a born and bred Yankee, I still find it odd.
4) Just down the road: 20 miles later...see definition of country mile
5) by and by: I have yet to decipher this phrase, although I hear it all the time. I am not sure if I should be offended...yet.
