OBGYN question

Right now my Dr. is maybe 10 minutes from my house, plus she delivered DD so we have a history. I work almost 45 minutes away from home and was wondering if I should try to find an OBGYN near my work? But then if I hypothetically get PH and try for a VBAC then I would obviously have to drive 45 minutes from home to the hospital near my work (should I go in to labor while at home)

What are your thoughts?

When I was pregnant with DD I would usually try to schedule my appointments first thing in the AM or last appointment of the day but those are definitely the most desirable times. As it got closer to my due date I was going weekly and on those days I just worked from home because it was usually in the middle of the day.

Re: OBGYN question

I'm no help. When I was PG with DS, I lived in Ozone Park (Queens), dr's office in Howard Beach and delivered at LIJ (New Hyde Park). I was a surrogate for SIL - lived in Riverhead, went to Howard Beach (by choice) for monthly visits and then delivered at Winthrop.

Both were scheduled c/s. My OB said VBAC was not a decision we could make until later on in the pregnancy - as he put it "if all the stars align" meaning, size is good (not too big- as DS was), head is down, etc.

I'm currently living in Lake Grove, using same Dr, but going to his Westbury office, I work in Bohemia and plan to (hopefully, when I do get PG) deliver at Winthrop again.

Chat Icon Thanks.

And yes, a traveling fool I am. It didn't phase me much b/c the drive from Riverhead to Howard Beach was fun - for the most part. I went Saturday mornings, so DS was along - and he was able to spend time with family we didnt get to see too often.

DH and I LOVED Winthrop, so it's no question we'll go there again- we're lucky in that my aunt lives about 10 min from there, so DH has a close place to stay and she watched DS last time.

Re: OBGYN question

i am in the same situation, though not pregnant yet, when i eventually am, i would like to see an ob-gyn near where i work. My co worker just had a baby and when it was towards the end of her pregnancy, she would simply just go every week (or however frequent) during her lunch hour and it was very convenient. Right now my doc is near my house which is about a 40 min drive away, so I too, could only schedule evening appointments (and even then, he only offers evening appointments twice a week). I would say if its going to be more convenient for you then find one near work, i'm sure if you list the place you're looking in, lots of ladies on here would have recommendations.

Good suggestion but I live in Bristol, CT and work in Shelton, CTChat Icon

I think I'm going to talk it over with DH too because he would then need to drive down here if he wanted to go to the appointments.
