first of all, I watch the NEWS and get all my "detractors" and their comments from there. I wasn't speaking specifically of the esteemed "detractors" of LIF. the WORLD also commented on this, in case you didnt' know (as did every single news outlet.)
Seriously? I had no idea! I thought the important news only comes from LIF! Dang, I learn something new everyday!
And yeah, I'm not a huge fan of his....but I always give credit where credit is due....and I don't agree that it's due here, that's all.

Why? Is there peace? Are we giving Nobel peace prizes for 9 months worth of efforts now? What about people who have strived their whole lives and careers for peace. Really? 9 months in with absolutely no results warrants a Nobel Peace Prize?
To be honest, I am quite disappointed in this choice. I agree, its premature and to me reaks of political pandering. It really diminshes the significance and honor of that prize to me.
i agree on all counts!!!

Re: Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
You know, I like Obama and still feel he is doing a good job--I don't like some of his decisions, but overall I'm happy.
But the Nobel Peace Prize? If he had served (or nearly served) 4 years and had results to show, okay, I could understand it. But at this point, what has he done to really further world peace? It's far too soon to give him this sort of award. The war in Afghanistan grinds on, Iraq is slowing down but it remains to be seen how things will go there, Iran is being Iran, Darfur hasn't been touched to my knowledge, and Gitmo still exists. Not that these things are his fault, but they don't win him a Peace Prize either.
Thsi does him no favors either. I'm sure Glenn Beck is ready to explode. Probably Bill and Hillary are too for that matter.

Definitely think its too early to be making that decision to give Obama the award - didn't see that coming.

i absolutely loved this:
"After I received the news, Malia walked in and said, 'Daddy, you won the Nobel Peace Prize, and it is Bo's birthday.' And then Sasha added, 'Plus, we have a three-day weekend coming up.' So it's — it's good to have kids to keep things in perspective."
There ain't gonna be much peace in the White House when Malia's school day and year is longer and she DOESN'T get so many three day weekends anymore. She can thank her Daddy!

Re: Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
Obama was as shocked as any one of his naysayers.
When he said that he will consider this "a call to action" it made me smile
I think that regardless of political views we have a President who has inspired a majority of our population.
He wants better for us.
He has plans to make it better for us.
He makes many feel that we are in this together.
Other nations are looking at us with a respect that they have not in a long time.
Again, Obama was surprised.
But for a long time other nations were not in our favor.
If the Nobel committee wants to give our President this award, who am I to knock it?

Re: Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
I think its a crock...premature...ridiculous...unfair.......and a real good way to just decrease the importance of what WAS a great reward.
What has Obama "Changed" He talked a big talk but I dont see any walking the big walk.
What has he done to even try?
