NYC Public School Parents
Who IS sending their child to school or are you keeping them home?!? I feel guilty NOT sending them since it's open. Plus, we live VERY close, I just need 20 mins to clean off my car/dig it out, but I'm sure it's not that bad. I don't know what my local streets are like. DD was crying when she woke up and heard it's open. I have the choice to work from home but I'm not so sure I want to be in the house with both girls ALL day!

Re: NYC Public School Parents
Honestly - I'm a teacher - I guarantee most schools will not be doing substantive work today. If anything there will probably be review, subject-specific games, movies (although my school is anti-movie ), etc.
And by my school it is UNSAFE. The roads are not plowed and it's a disaster.
I wouldn't send my own kids.

Re: NYC Public School Parents
Never mind the fact that a lot of teachers probably aren't going to be there especially if they have kids and their daycares or schools are closed

I disagree. This wouldnt fly in my school. As long as most of my students were in, it was a day like every other.

Re: NYC Public School Parents
I stayed home- and I assume a lot of teachers are out- there are people from CT, W'chester, LI, etc. In the past we've combined classes if lots of kids were out, so I'd have kids in my room who I didn't normally teach. If most of the kids showed, I'd do my regular lesson.

Re: NYC Public School Parents
the streets by me are perfectly fine. a little snow on the sidewalks but all of the streets I've seen in both Brooklyn and Manhattan are totally clear.
my nieces went to school. even their parochial school was open.
