NYC--How much to tip Super?
We live in a large-ish (17 floors) non-doorman building in NYC. The live-in super helps us when he need him to but that's not too often. How much to tip? We can't remember what we gave last year.

i would say it depends on the response time, quality of work and frequency of work...
do you tip him every time you have something done?
i would shoot for somewhere in the $20-30 range... for normal services...
anything above and beyond i'd go more but nothing above $50..

He doesn't usually have to do much for us....we hardly need him! A colleague of mine suggested $100-$150. Not sure what we'll end up doing! Thx!

I would say at a min 100. The super does lots of things you don't see.

our building is a 16 story doorman building, we tip the super $250 we don't live there fulltime so he's great about deliveries and stuff for us.

We gave $40 this year but we also live in a huge building with tons of workers so in order to tip everyone we couldn't give any one person a huge amount. I would say tip what you feel comfortable with.
