Nursing strike
Dd2 is 10 months and ebf. She nurses and has pumped milk bottles. The last few days she refuses to nurse. She is so easily distracted and wants to be part of what's going on. She pushes away and wiggles. I've even taken her to her room in The quiet and same thing.
She's also teething and there were a few times she bit and I said no.
I'm sad bc I like nursing her and don't want to stop yet. Either way she's getting breastmilk for at least the next 5 months bc I have a ridiculous freezer stash. But I'm not ready to stop nursing...
Thoughts?

Re: Nursing strike
I definitely think it's a phase. I think it's rare for a baby to actually self wean that young.

Yeah I read on kellymom that true self weaning doesn't happen before a year, actually closer to 2 years and is gradually.
I'm pumping in the meantime and keep offering.

I also think its the stage they are in.. I don't BF but, P is in the stage where she always wants to move and is very squirmy, its quite exhausting!

I opened this thinking it was going to be about nurses in a hospital going on strike lol.
Hope she returns to nursing again soon :)

Yeah she's like that even with bottles. Although a little better bc she could sit up and look around...and hold it herself.

Nursing strike
So my son started refusing to nurse at about 9 months. He said to me no, no and shook his head. He even blew on my boob. He was done. I tried for over a week but he wasn't interested. I feel yah!

My dd also started to self wean at 9 months and by 10 months was completely done. It was pretty heartbreaking, I have to admit. I had a really hard time initially breastfeeding and was so proud of myself that I got past 6 months and really wanted to make it to a year.
It could definitely be a phase though. My LC said that at 9 months they get so much more distracted and are just too busy to take the time to nurse, but keep offering and don't make a big deal out of it. Also try nursing in a dark room with no noise to limit distractions.

Same thing! But at the very least I know she'll still get breastmilk for many months to come. I didn't think I'd make it this far nursing so I built a HUGE freezer stash. So I'm proud of nursing this far and just as proud to have a huge stash.
I'm not ready to give up yet.

I'd say just keep offering. When DS would be distracted, I'd take him to a dark room and try to nurse him there. My DS is a nursing fiend though and never went on a real nursing strike.

Nursing strike
UPDATE: so the original nursing strike last for 5 days and I'm happy to say she went back to nursing and we nursed for another two months.....until this past Friday when she went on another nursing strike. We're now on day 6 and its brutal. She's teething big time, I think wisdom. She was up all night last night and is clearly not herself.
She turns 1 Saturday and I wanted to nurse her a little longer. But I have to be proud of making it a year ebf and she'll still be getting bm due to my huge frozen stash that should last a few months.
Any words of wisdom?

You should be really proud of yourself for making it to a year and for continuing to nurse for another 2 months after you thought it was over! BF is hard work!!!
I would just continue to offer and not pressure your DD to nurse and hopefully once she is done teething and feeling better she will continue to nurse, but regardless you should feel really proud of yourself!
