Nursery furniture sets cheaper than BRU?

I am at 32 weeks and finally ordering our nursery furniture (I know, I'm a little behind). We were originally going to get a set at BRU- but its like $1500. At JCPenney, I found a set we LOVED for $899- a dresser, armoire and crib- sweet, right? I just tried to order it tonight- and shipping is more than $300- and no promotions or discounts apply, and it will bring the grand total right back up to a price we were trying to avoid.

Where did you girls get your nursery furniture sets, if not at BRU, that weren't super-expensive?

TIA!

I believe you can do ship to store with Jcpenny and get free shipping. You just have to have a way of getting it from the store to your house.

If you can't find someone I see guys on craigslist all the time advertising their services to pick up furniture you purchased with the truck. I think it was pretty cheap. Speaking of craigslist, I see pretty high end furniture on there ALL THE TIME from people who bought super expensive furniture for their child now they are 2 or 3 and making a big boy/big girl room or are mega rich and just want a change. They look like great sets for a deal.

Brilliant idea- I thought of this as well. Unfortunately, you can have cribs/ furniture shipped to store. I spoke to the customer service rep and she said these sets have to be shipped to your house. =(

As far as CL, I've been looking but wasn't crazy about a second hand crib (I have second hand EVERYTHING, I am a garage sale weirdo and the only thing I didn't want to get secondhand was a crib, as baby bargains preached so much against it!)

Thanks anyway for your advice girls!

I didn't get a set, but got a crib (highly rated in Baby Bargains) and bookshelf from Target and a dresser from Ikea.

I would double check that policy, I am almost positive I've seen people post on here about shipping baby furniture to the store for free. I could be wrong but the savings is definitely worth double checking.

Re: Nursery furniture sets cheaper than BRU?

Thanks ladies, just jumped off the phone with JCP. Just got a beautiful 3-pc nursery set delivered to my house for $1000- here's how:

JCP changed their shipping policy a month and a half ago. Nursery furniture sets CANNOT ship to store anymore- they HAVE to ship to your house, because of their size and since they come from the manufacturer, not the JCP factory. Shipping runs $300+. My 3-pc set (convertible crib, tall chest dresser, long double dresser- 2nd Edition Tori Baby Furniture Collection) was $899 + $300 shipping. There is no way around that shipping cost- no free shipping codes work, I tried multiple ones as did the representative. Luckily, I used a 30% off promotion code I found online (seek30- it takes 30% off with JCP card or 20% off with no JCP card) with my MIL's JCP card. It brought the total down almost $300 to $1,047, being shipped to my house- which essentially is the $899 + $120 tax + $30. Basically, it is like I got it shipped for free, more or less. They have some cute sets in case anyone is interested- and they are MUCH cheaper than BRU/BBB. The quality is excellent, as far as I researched. Oh, and the lead time is awesome-it will be here in 2 weeks. =)

Re: Nursery furniture sets cheaper than BRU?

I was just browsing through jcp website and saw the code babycrib that gives free shipping to store.

ETA: I just tried it, it only works on some sets. unfortunately not the Tori 2nd edition

Just my two cents, even though they wind up the same price, I would go for the JCP set. We have a BRU set and it's just so "cheap". JCP has better quality furniture!
