nuchal results- slightly worried
I spoke to nurse about results- at first, she jsut said everything fine. i asked for exact numbers, she said 1/860 for downs, 1/1200 for trisomy 18. and said downs risk for my age is 1/304. i'm only 27, the risk for age seems kind of off. plus, worried about results, 1/800 seems low, with DD it was like 1/8000 or somethign liek that - MUCH higher. I am Jewish, dont know if that affects my risk, but the 1/300 seems very high for my age. if that number is off, not sure if my risk is off- the 1/860 is off, or if i'm at an increased risk right now. thats my main worry- if the original risk number is off, then my results may put me at risk but it wasnt picked up, if that makes sense. or jsut worried the whoel thing is off. Next appt with OB is a week from Friday, they're goign to do the secodn part- the AFP blood tst at 15 weeks

Re: nuchal results- slightly worried
it doesn't sound like anything to be worried about. 1/860 is an extremely low chance. my down number is 1/30,000, but my doctor said that was the best she's ever seen.

I can't tell from your post exactly what your numbers are vs. what they are supposed to be for your age. In either case, I don't see anything too alarming in the numbers you posted. If you are overly concerned, you can ask for an amnio but I doubt it will be necessary in your case.

the nurse todl me they are supposed to be 1/300. they were 1/800. but- i am 27, and hte 1/300 seems off to me. if that is the case, not sure how it affects results.

to be honest, 1/300 does seem off for a 27-year old as an average. i would think it would be above 1,000. but even so, the 1/860 is a very good number.

Re: nuchal results- slightly worried
I'm 37 and my number was 1/870. I was told that was very good... it was equivilant to that of a 27 year old. So, I would say those numbers are fine!

Re: nuchal results- slightly worried
I wouldnt be concerned 1 out of 860 is a very good #. Thats a 0.11% chance , if that helps u understand it better. I think that based on your age they were wrong im 29 and based on my age before they factored in the blood work and the sono my risk was 1 out of 800 or something and once they factored everything in it was 1 in 10000, which is the highest the ratio can go its on a chart. So ur number is very good. There is no need to worry.

Don't be worried. If your doctors were concerned, they would have recommended further testing.

I was told mine is 1 in 30,000? you're saying it only goes up to 10,000? My trisomy 18 score was 1 in 99,000.

im just going by the sheet that i saw at work its done on a chart and the ratio ends at 1 in 10,000 for all the patients and then the boxes are colored in to what the patients correct ratio. Its a generic sheet. I was told by my OB that the highest ratio you can get is 1 out of 10000, i had the same numbers for my last pregnancy as well 1 out of 10000. Maybe yours is different, im just going by my experience.
