Not so good news from blood work results... UPDATE*
Last week I had my NT scan and although the doctor at the office said everything looked "great" my doctor called me with some not so great blood work results... Apparently based on the scans, blood work and whatever else they take into consideration I was told I have a 1 in 13 chance of there being a chromosomal disorder. So she scheduled me for a CVS at 2:00...
Anyone who has had a CVS done would you mind sharing your experience?
Please wish me luck and send some good vibes my way.
Update: I'm not going to lie that was sh*tty. DH couldn't make it from Long Island in time for the appointment so I brought my sister. The appointment was long, we met with a genetic counselor and she gave us so much information. I wish I could remember it all, it was really interesting. That was about an hour. Then the CVS, I got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat and it was nice that my sister got to experience that as well. Because of my fibroid they had to go in through my abdomen and it hurt like a b!tch. The doctor said to expect a pinch then a cramp and then they have to move the needle up and down for 30 seconds to get the sample. It doesn't sound like a long time but holy hell it felt like an eternity. Pinch yes and then I have to question if he understood the definition of the word cramp. It felt exactly what you would imagine taking a needle to the stomach feels like. I'm just glad it's over.
My OB said the results take up to a week but I found out at the appointment that if they get enough of a sample they can do a FISH test and get the results for down syndrome tomorrow along with the gender.

Not so good news from blood work results...
i am so sorry yougot bad news! Please keep in mind that many of these scans give false positive results. I'll keep you and your LO in my prayers that everything turns out ok from your CVS!

No experience but I too have heard of many false positives and needless worry from these tests. I hope you get good news!

Oh G.... i am sooooo sorry that you have to deal with this. Remember those blood tests are not always accurate. LOT'S OF PRAYERS AND TONS OF POSITIVE THOUGHTS GOING YOUR WAY.

So sorry you got those results. I am also scheduled for a CVS, but do not go until the 21st, so do not have the experience to share. However, I have talked to several ladies that have been through it, experiences varied, but overall the actuall procedure is very short, and I do not know anyone who suffered a loss afterwards.

Sorry you got tha news. I have a few friends who got that news and have perfectly healthy children so try not to worry. 1 in 13 chance is still pretty small. I'm not familiar with the cvs, but I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. Try not to stress....

Thanks everyone, I'm trying to remain calm, it helps knowing there are a lot of false positives from these tests.
Ang, my doctor said the results could take up to a week.  The waiting makes it worse.

No experience with the CVS, but definitely agree with everyone about false positives. Hopefully the next test will give you much better info. Sending all my prayers and thoughts to you guys.

i had a CVS done earlier in my pregnancy. Just plan on relaxing and not really getting up after it. I was crampy but had no spotting. I am sending you good vibes!!

Not so good news from blood work results...
So sorry you have to go through this but you will hear millions of stories where people got back bad results and had a CVS or amnio and everythign is fine.
My sister had a 1 in 7 chance... had the cvs and her DS is FINE! Please try not to stress too much.
I skipped the NT Scan because of all the false results...it is not an accurate test.
