Not RSVPing to a party

If people don't RSVP at all to a children's party you are hosting, do you bother to invite them again?

Not RSVPing to a party

I just went through this in June. I sent out invites last year and this year to my dd's birthday and nobody from my Dad's side came. I said enough and I will no longer invite them, and i'm not inviting them to my son's 1st birthday either. Maybe that is harsh but when you send out invites for 50 people and only 15 show that is a HUGE difference in food/favors/planning. It's to much for me. We have had the same people both years and it was perfect.

Re: Not RSVPing to a party

I stopped inviting dh's friends. They never come or RSVP. I think it's rude and had enough. So I just invite my friends and our families.

I have stopped inviting people too - rude rude rude!

On a side note, do you follow up with non-rsvpers or just assume they are a no? I'm always afraid I'm not gonna have enough favors or something (usually do personalized)

i wish i could but unfortunately the people that don't RSVP are family members! so i have to invite them despite having to basically hound them each time for an answer.

I know just what you are talking about. I always invite them, but base my expectations on their past. If they usually don't RSVP or don't come, I assume they are not coming when I mail the invite. On the off chance that they do decide to come, they usually will bend over backward and call till they speak with me to say they are. But if I don't hear from them, I assume they are not coming. I always round up when I order food, so I always have enough and I don't do favors.

Not RSVPing to a party

I always follow up with anyone I haven't heard from, so I'm not left guessing how many people will be there.

Re: Not RSVPing to a party

In some cases I have found out a reason for their lack of RSVP, such as a major family crisis. Then I have treated the lack of an RSVP as it it never happened. In other cases I am finished with inviting some people. I have rarely had someone not RSVP and then show up so I don't worry about that so much anymore.

Re: Not RSVPing to a party

Sorry, I mean to post this on the school age board, and should have stated in my OP that I meant classmates, not family. We had a Halloweeen party, and several of the parents did not RSVP at all (my invite said to call/email either way). So I was thinking ahead to birthday party, and was wondering if I should bother to invite them again. I'm leaning toward no.
