When it comes to nutrition and parenting advice (nursing, co sleeping, etc.) no. On a recent ped visit, one of the peds pretty much chastised me for still nursing on demand, co-sleeping and not giving cows milk yet. I just nodded my head because there was no point in arguing.

I don't listen to every single thing he says, but I usually discuss it with him when I have a differing opinion. When he brought up solids at 5 months, I told him I wanted to wait and he said that was fine.
I generally like to discuss it with him when I have something different in mind, just to confirm I'm not missing any information or making a mistake.

If I listened to my first pediatrician I would have quit my job and taken DD out of daycare because it was my "fault" she was getting ear infections. Instead I listened to myself and took her to an ENT... and a new pediatrician.

Not listening to your ped?
I do, for the most part. That being said, we haven't really disagreed on much. We can all google things, and I'm the google queen, but I really think at the end of the day it is important to have a ped that you trust. Everything my ped recommends does not always agree with Dr. Google, but he has a great reputation and DS did well with all his recommendations.

I had a ped like that. He made fun of me for not starting cereal at 4 months. He said to the nurse in front of me "some moms think that they can find better information on google rather than listening to their ped who has 20 years of experience'. I peaced out after that appointment and found a ped who aligns with my thinking. We still dont totally agree on things but she respects my thinking and I respect hers.

No -
I don't question every little thing though - Just b/c I have google access and can do some research doesn't make me an experienced MD - KWIM?
But for things like eating, sleeping etc. I will ask for advice, but in the long run do what I feel is best.
Doctors are people, they're not God. They do not have all of the answeres to everything 150% of the time -

Wow both of these peds obviously have their heads up their @ssses. There's something called bed-side manner.

No, I don't listen to everything they say. When it comes to things like food, BFing, or sleep, I take their advice into consideration, but I do my own research too.

It really depends on what it is. When it comes to MEDICAL advice, I usually follow it. When it comes to PARENTING, I listen to them as guidance and then make my own decisions.
