Not happy with my new doctor...

I have a new doctor so late in the game due to DH's job transfer in case a new reader is wondering why in the world I have a new doctor at 38/39 weeks.

Is it bad that I feel reluctant to call my doctor whenever I notice something not right? I had an appointment Tuesday and I felt like the doctor was cutting me off whenever I tried to tell her something about what I was feeling. It's my first pregnancy - I am sorry I didn't push out 4 kids and don't know what I am exactly going through, or what each pain means, etc. I felt like she treated me like total garbage.

She doesn't believe in inducing before the due date either - here's the problem, I wasn't asking to be induced early - I was asking what was in my doctor from NY's notes about changing my due date to November 10th due to the growth the baby was going through. My doctor in NY said he didn't want me to deliver a big baby due to the herniations in my back. So why is she not talking to me about it? I bring this up and she said "that's not a valid reason to induce early". Oh, and the itching on my belly must be a skin problem not related to the pregnancy - I really hope she was kidding.

Then last night, started at about 7pm, I was in excruciating pain - I was pretty certain these were the hardcore contractions I have been waiting for...and it came in waves every 15 minutes. It got so bad to a point where I vomited.

I waited til 2am, because like I said, it was only 15 minutes, and I had no water breakage (hospital is literally 5 minutes away so I was not worried about getting there on time if I had to). I couldn't take it anymore so I called the answering service and had to wait for the doctor on call to call me back. When she called, she sound like 1.) she was just woken up and 2.) Really snooty - "if it's 5 minutes, get to L&D" and that was the only advice she gave me over the phone.

A half an hour later, the pain subsided and I was able to fall asleep. Kind of glad I didn't necessarily jump the gun and head to the hospital. I did that last Friday and I left sort of bummed and I didn't want to go through it again. I hate internals with a passion - I feel like they just go right up there so hard and I feel like I am being ripped right open. My doctor in NY was actually gentle and didn't make me wince at all.

Today, I feel fine, like nothing happened and it's the weirdest feeling. Right now, I just came back from the bathroom and saw some blood - not a lot and it's dark brown. I was already told I lost my mucus plug last friday so I don't know what this could be. I had internal done on Tuesday, and I bleed today possibly from that?

I shouldn't really be consulting these boards and call the nurses but I'm so beyond annoyed with this practice and I'm stuck with them at this point. I miss my doctor in NY, he would not be so laid back like this and he'd be more sympathetic and reassuring that I am OK.

Someone remind me that when I go to get pregnant again I pick a new office. I understand I am not the only patient, but my goodness, can we turn down the attitudes?

I don't really have helpful advice but if you don't trust your gut about this new doctor, maybe you could still find someone else who would make you feel more comfortable?

I don't really have much advice regarding the bleeding although my OB always warns me that I could bleed after any internal exam I have done so I guess it could be from that, maybe?

I'm sorry you're not happy with this new OB. I'm assuming from your post that this isn't a group practice?

I would definitely speak to a different OB in the practice then. Hopefully you'll like the other doctor better and the mean one won't be on-call the day you deliver! Good luck!
