Not again...

Okay..so I am about 2 days lates. I took a regular pg test and the line was clear as day! I took two digitals..both said negative. Now DH and I are about to rip out our hair because every month we get a positive and then I get AF- so I am so afraid that those negative digitals mean it's going to be a chemical again. My Dr. keeps saying we need to leave things to "faith" and I want answers. I am really hoping its our time...but being I am already late and I have negative digitals I am just not so sure.

I feel like I always come on here to get opinions, and I apologize, just know I am always "lurking", and wish the best for everyone. Sometimes our predicament just makes it so hard for me :(

Re: Not again...

I am sorry this is happening to you...

were those regular tests a $1 tests?? I ask because 2 months in a row I got positive lines on those (I even took pictures) when in fact I wasn't pregnant...I personally hate them...

Digitials are not as sensitive as others but once you are late, and are in fact pregnant they should show as positive...

If this happened to you before, I would go to a different doctor...you can't leave things up to faith like that....

Good luck to you!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Not again...

Have faith??? I would have faith that a new MD would take you seriously. ON a different but related note . . . for women under 35, 3 m/c in a 12 month time frame indicates an issue that needs to be addressed.

Re: Not again...

i agree with all the above posters - it sounds like your doctor is being dismissive of something that could represent a significant problem. i would find a new one, personally.

but about the negative digital - the digital tests are about half as sensitive as some of the early response "line" tests (something like 40u versus 20u of beta HCG). so if your beta isn't high enough yet you could get a positive line test and a negative digital at first.

it happened to me - 3 positive line tests (each of a different brand) when i was one day late, and the digital came up negative. the digital didn't come back positive until i was 4 days late! i am almost 10 weeks pregnant now, so i'm thinking it was just a sensitivity thing.

so please don't lose hope!! it may just be that your beta is still too low to get picked up by the digital test. but i would still take this issue to a competent doctor. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Triple agree! If you are getting pregnant every month and then getting AF there is something wrong. A "chemical" is just an early miscarriage. I would suggest seeing an RE or if you can swing it Dr Scher in NYC-he is a gyn that specializes in m/c.

Re: Not again...

Well I did it..I called another Dr. They won't see me untile April 9th. But on the upside, I did take another (NON digital) test and it was positive...so I am starting to be slightly optimistic and praying (SO MUCH) that the digitals were not sensitive enough. What do you girls honestly think? Another chemical or just the digital wasnt sensitive enough?
I'll keep you posted...and thanks for all the advice..

Re: Not again...

I just got my digital confirmation..WOOHOOOOOO! Oh I am so excited and I have such a good feeling about this one. The line on the regular one was darker than it ever has been and I feel really good as opposed to when I had the chemicals. I can't believe it. Just so very happy! Thanks for everything girls and give some sticky vibes!!! lol

I had the opposite happen to me...3 digitals came up pregnant, and then when I went to the doc. they had to do 3 of their tests to get a line and the nurse said it was really light. Who knows. As long as you got that BFP!!!
