It looks like we are at the point where we have to talk to the doctors and get their input on Fred's possible recovery. He is not responsive at all. I have to say, this doesn't look good. I spoke to the CCU PA and he says he's seen people come out of it, but he says in Fred's case it doesn't look that hopeful. This is something I already knew. I was just hoping it would turn around. It may still, but from what I'm hearing and from visiting him today, I am not that optimistic.
Tomorrow hopefully, I will talk to his doctors and then have a family meeting with them. It's hard since my parents live in AZ. They will have to come in for this of course but most of the legwork is mine to do. His kids are 21 and 15 and the older one doesn't have a car and can't get to the hospital as often as he would like. The younger one gets there when his mom can take him as well. This is just too much for a kid. It's too much for me.
thank you all. The vascular surgeon called me about an hr ago to talk to me. He said I should have the nurse arrange for a meeting with the family and all the docs. He said the neurologists notes all say poor prognosis. This is by far the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life. When did I become a grown up?
My husband's family went through something very similar last summer. I know how hard & heartbreaking this is - being on a rollercoaster with the progress reports & making decisions like this.
I'm so sorry.... I hope a Miracle for fred will happen for your family real soon... I am praying really hard for a speedy recovery.. come on fred fight.
