We took that cruise 2 years ago. It was OK.

After 2 cruises on NCL to Florida/Bahamas, we decided that we won't go on NCL again. I'd rather spend the extra money and have a better experience on Royal Carribean.

Funny because we have been on 10 cruises and our least favorite, by far, was our RCCL Chat Icon .

We are doing the Norweigan Gem in August with the Florida/Bahamas itinerary.

We previously did the Dawn to Bermuda and absolutely loved it!

Re: Norweign Gem

We took that cruise for Christmas two years ago. We also did that itinerary (different ship) for my babymoon 7 years ago. To be honest, the itinerary isn't the best, but the convenience of cruising out of NY makes up for it.
Florida- One year we stayed on the ship and that was great, the pool area was nice and empty. We had our best seats of the week. Then we did the beach with the kids, which was nice, but it was a little too cool out. Then ad lunch in town.
Nassau- first time we did Atlantis aquarium and had lunch at the resort. Second time we just took the kids to the beach. And took a walk through town. It was a little warmer then Florida, but still not hot. I actually wish we had done it the opposite way around- beach on our own, aquarium with kids.
Private Island- we didn't make it there either trip. Chat Icon The irst time DH was sick that day and stayed in bed and I felt bad leaving him. The second time was the nicest day, weather-wise, of the entire trip. We were so excited to go, but they said the waves were too high to safely get the tenders to the island, so we got stuck on board.

Yeah, it just shows you how everything is subjective!

Was on that ship last year. Stopped in bahamas & florida. Did not love it, mostly because it was cold & choppy when we went so we only had a couple of days of warm weather. The ship itself was nice though.

My parents took the same cruise and said they will never go on NCL again, same as you.

We always do specialty dinners. We think it's definitely worth it. Cagneys and the French restaurant are really good. We also enjoy the hibachi with the kids. We've done the Asian, it's good but nothing outrageous, and the Argentinian one was good too.

Hope you have a great time! You will be better off than we were since you should have warmer weather than we did. And I totally agree with previous post about going to the specialty restaurants. We went to the French restaurant twice and loved it. The sushi was just ok.
