I live in East Northport and honestly I like all of Northport. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere in that area.

There are really no bad areas. I grew up over near Norwood Ave elem school. Loved it.

Re: Northport info needed

We recently moved here- beginning of spring.

We live in the Village. It is clean, safe, beautiful. But it is and has been a hard adjustment for me. We came from the South Shore, so this is very different.

You really can't go wrong in any area here, from what I have seen.

FM me if you have a certain street in mind, maybe I can help.

Re: Northport info needed

if your inside the village your taxes will be higher... regular taxes + village taxes.

if your looking on "the neck" your commute will be longer as well as crab meadow

I agree w/previous posters - Northport
is great! We decided not to buy there (Northort Village) for a few reasons. The first being our commutes to and from work would have been too long. The second being that many of the homes we liked were older homes. While they are beautiful, many of them needed costly updates (like plumbing overhauls) that we weren't interested in dealing with. The last reason was parking. If you entertain a lot, your guests could potentially have trouble parking. But the area is beautiful.

There are so many parts to Npt besides the village. Honestly, unless you decide to live ON main street or Scudder or Woodbine or Bayview, parking is not an issue.

You have Ashroken. Don't drive over 30 mph and always have food in your house. But you get water. Water everywhere! It's beautiful! But it can get washed out in big storms.

You also have Eatons Neck. Take what I said about Ashroken and tack on 15 more minutes of driving! Chat Icon

They are 2 beautiful parts but NOT close to anything. So I wouldn't recommend if you work outside of Suffolk County.

You also have the Norwood area. Cute houses. Lots of capes. A bit hilly in parts. You can walk to the village for the most part. You also are really close to Crab Meadow Beach which is great! The area by the Lewis Oliver dairy farm is so cute.

There's the Makimah area (can't ever spell it). It's right off of 25A. Gorgeous area, great sunsets, but a bit marshy.

There's Fort Salonga. I'm partial b/c thati's where I grew up. For the most part, a good amount of property, wooded, close the Sunken Meadow Pkway.

There's the Middleville Road/VA area. Also pretty wooded and big lots. Depending on the area, you can have older homes, smaller homes, or larger modern houses.

If you are looking for newer construction, there's Gunn Club Road off of Old Bridge Road. Huge houses. Big lots.

Then there's the area by Bellerose Elementary School. It's near the train tracks and it's the border for E.NPT. Mix of cape like houses with more modern homes. This area has a mixture of small lots and big lots.

Overall, NPT is fantastic and if I had the money, I would buy in a heartbeat!!!!! I miss it a lot!
