Just got an email from someone I know on the PTA.
Good evening, ladies;
So sorry for the late notice, but we would appreciate it very much if you could forward the following info to as many people as possible in your PTA units tonite. I have been trying to reach as many people as possible thru phone calls and e-mail, but it's difficult on a Friday in the summer. Thank you so much for your help in spreading the word!

"As you all know, Corporal Christopher Scherer, a Northport High School graduate was killed this week while serving our country in Iraq. His funeral will be Saturday, July 29. We would like to honor Corporal Scherer and his family by assembling on Elwood Road at 11:30 a.m. to pay our respects to his funeral procession as it passes by the High School. Please carry an American flag if you can. Please pass along this information to all. Thanks."

My anger about this is ONLY eclipsed by my extreme sadness...I wish he lived closer to me, and many prayers and hugs go out to his family for his tragic loss

Unfortunately, Maddie & I have somewhere to be at 10am. I wish I could stand out for the family to let them know we're there for them & support them.

My son lost his dear friend Matt Baylis just a couple of months ago. I will never ever forget the look on his mother's face when she "received" us at the wake.
This has got to END!
I am becoming more & more outraged everyday.

That is absolutely horrible. A graduate of the high school that I work in was killed in Iraq this spring. We lined the streets for the funeral procession too. It was extremely upsetting. This horrendous, unjust war has got to END NOW.

He was just about my sisters age! I cannot even imagine.
He graduated a year after her!
So, so sad!
