North Babylon
I am loving a home in North Babylon. I know that some people say not so great things about the school district... but the price is right. Compared to what we are finding in West Babylon it is INSANE! I do not think we will be needing the schools for a while...so that does not bother me but just for resale value.
Thoughts on NB

Re: North Babylon
I grew up in NB but did not attend the HS.
I know quite a few teachers there and they say the SD is decent - it just gets a bad rep b/c it's more integrated than say West Islip or Smithtown.
The elementary schools are fantastic.
What area of NB are you looking in?

Re: North Babylon
Between Belmont and Little East Neck Rd?
I am on the other side of LENR so we mingle a lot with people in that area. There's a ton of great local businesses right on LENR (Joe's Market, Miceli's, C&J, etc.) Plus a Ralph's. I go down Baur/Seward to get SSP and I always see kids riding their bikes, people working in their yards. Belmont Elem is a great school.
I know people who both live and work in NB, it's a good district.

Re: North Babylon
My friend Neal and his wife live in the New Condos on DPA - They love the area and that there are so many stores that are so close to their home. They also love that they can walk where ever they want - The diner is right across the street...around the corner is Sears, Salpinos market, a cleaners etc.....Also the Parkways are close by. They do not have children, so I cannot tell you how the schools are there. I just know that they love living there.
Danielle and I looked at a home a few years back off DPA that we loved, but in the end we moved to Levittown....If you like the house and the area, then I would go for it

Re: North Babylon
The Belmont area is nice. Like MathTeach said - it's close to Little East Neck. Belmont Elementary is good, you're close to Sunrise, it's a nice area.
Good luck in your search!
