No sure whats happening
Went to my doc today.. HB 120 bpm however she is concerned b/c there is not much growth from my 1st sono, nut she did say the HB was nice and strong. I have to go back tues for another U/S i just am not sure how to feel right now, she is there is a chance it might not be a normal pregnancy.

Please try to keep positive!!!!! how far along are you? after a certain gestational age, all babies grow at their own rate, so while they would like a baby to be a certain size/weight, if they are not, doesn't mean the baby is abnormal.

I know you are super early in your pregnancy. Please just keep the hope and pray for a good outcome. You may just have a stubborn baby on your hands. My OB scared me in my first appointment because she wasn't sure if she was seeing a heart beat. I had to go back the following Monday for a sono. They found the heartbeat right away and even let me listen! Every day counts, maybe your baby just looks small and its not a big deal. Good luck!!!

my doctor told me to be cautiously optimistic. which makes me more upset.
And she said its less then 20% that it will be a viable pregnancy, but she said don't count it out yet.

I know they need to prepare you, but dang, telling you there is a 20% chance it's a viable pregnancy. That's a bit harsh....I don't know what I think about your doc.....

im so sorry you are going through this. your doctor may sound harsh, but she wants to prepare you for the worst. i personally would prefer to hear that then hear it should be ok, come back in a week and then boom be shocked that god forbid something happened. try to remain positive

What was the baby measuring last week as compared to this week?
You have to remember they are measuring somethin SUPER SMALL and if they are off by less then a millimeter when they measure it can throw things off by a few days.
Im surprised your dr did an ultrasound this early, unless ypu have a history of losses. Did they take blood to see what your progesterone levels were? If not i would call them and ask for it because if they are low you can be put on a suppository which will increase ypur chances of a healthy pregnancy.
I know she gave you a % and its hard not to think of that, but try to stay calm and positive and stay away from google!!!

I have stopped listening to percentages... I have been in the .0001% category .. the 2% category.. it doesn't matter WHAT the stats are, it will work or it won't. A strong heartbeat is a GREAT sign! When I had my last miscarriage, there was slow growth but along with it a slow heart rate. The fact that the heart rate is good must count for something!!!  I understand that your doctor just wants you to be prepared... but really... three's no need to attach numbers to it. There's reason to be hopeful, so just hold onto that hope!!!!!!

i go to a high risk doc b./c with my 1st pregnancy i had a loss at 6 months pregnant d/t an IC= incompetent cervix, so when i was pregnant with my son i had to be on bedrest b/c of the IC, but i never had any issues in the two previous pregnancies in the 1st trimester but that doesn't mean anything i know. i had a sono last fri i was 5 weeks 6 days ,and measured 3-4 mm, and today im 6 weeks 6 days, and the HB is much stronger, and faster, and measured the same.

thanks everyone. I just spoke with my friend and she said the same thing happened with her. Had no HB, and no growth, and then the next week it started to grow. i pray im as lucky as she was.

I'm sorry. I went through something similar last year.
At that size, the measurements are really super tiny, so if the sono tech was off by a few millimeters, it could make a big difference. Are your dates matching up?
I will be saying prayers for you. Just try to stay positive and see what happens next week.
Having a strong heartbeat at this stage is great news!

Im sorry you got this news, but I agree with everyone that said don't listen to the numbers. A strong heartbeat means many things have already come together. Have faith and good luck.
