No LH surge
I have been reading this board for the past few months and finally had enough courage and computer skills (to figure out how to post-lol).
This is going into my 5th month of ttc. I have been off the pill since Feb (after being on it for about 12 years). My cycles have for the most part been regular since going off bcp (average cycle length 32 days). I have been using opk and have NEVER seen a bfp at all. I switched to the digital opk thinking maybe I misread the 2 purple lines but still no bfp. :( I started taking my temp also as a further predictor of possible ovulation but my temps are always all over the place.
I went to my obgyn last month to get some advice about ttc-thinking maybe we are missing a step somewhere. I explained to her that my sister rarely got af and needed clomid b/c she never ovulated. As a "precaution" she took bloodwork to check hormones, thyroid, etc. Didn't hear back so she said to assume everything was fine. Well, I am now on cd15, have had ovulation twinges/pains the last 3 days but again NO bfp on my ovulation tests. Any words of encouragement? ps. I am 32 and nervous my chances of ttc are decreasing. :( Sorry so long

Re: No LH surge
It may be possible that you're not ovulating. A surge in your temperature is the only sure way to tell and if you're not seeing it, there may be something up. Clomid can help induce ovulation.
Definitely call your doctor. Is s/he a GP or a specialist? Maybe it's time to see an RE.
Good luck!

Re: No LH surge
You should definitely chart your temps - that is the only way (aside from medical testing) to be sure.
Good Luck!

Re: No LH surge
no. She is just a general obgyn. She said to keep bding every other day until af comes. She told us to try for a few more months. if nothing she will do a sonogram to see if there is any blockage or something? its just frustrating at this point. I think if I atleast had a surge, I'd feel more optimistic about this whole process. Thanks for the advice. :)

Re: No LH surge
Thank you. Im just going to keep bding every other day until af comes (just in case) combined with temp. taking and opk. That way I can atleast feel as though I am trying everything I can.

Re: No LH surge
If you suspect you are not ovulating, I would get assertive with your doctor to get to the bottom of what is going on. Many things can cause anovulation including PCOS, hormonal imbalances, etc. There are tests to find out what is causing this problem for you including ultrasound. Good luck!

Ditto! Esp if your sister had a similar issue. If you're not O'ing, waiting another few months isn't going to do anything.
If you don't think your doctor will be receptive, head to an RE with your charts.
Good luck!

Re: No LH surge
I also strongly recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility or reading the information available online at Fertility Friend.com Both are very helpful in explaining what's going on.
There is only a window of about 5 days that you can get pregnant and both resources help to pinpoint when that window occurs.
HTH!
