No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

People are starting to drive me crazy!!!

Why is it so hard for people to understand that DH and I are waiting until the birth to find out what we are having!??

Whenever I have a conversation with someone its either " so what are your having?" "We're not finidng out" " Ohh... well that makes it hard to shop for" OR " Do you still not know what youre having?" (As if we would change our minds).

I know its not the "norm" these days with sonograms and such but please respect our decision and not make remarks just because you are sooo nosey!

Vent Away! I went through this with my first pregnancy.
I LOVED the "But it's soo hard to shop for you comments"..Ummmm I registered, just look at my list, it's NOT that hard, if you really want to get me/the baby something.
This time around, no questions asked. I guess because, we've BTDT.
We don't want to know. Plain and simple! ALL I want to know is that the baby is healthy and not only do I care if its a boy or a girl, the "surprise" at the end is the most AMAZING feeling!!

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

Thank you so much for validating the way I'm feeling.
It feels somewhat better to know I'm not the only one whos ever had this happen.

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

Would it be easier??? sure- I could totally get a bedding set I want and clothes and colors etc

But this is the only true suprise DH and I can share together- noone ( not even the dr.) knows what this child is.

I dont mind the guesses- I think thats fun that people are trying to figure out. But its the comments that make it seem like I'm crazy for doing this that gets to me.

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

I know you're frustrated....but honestly, it works BOTH ways. DH and I found out what we were having with DD, and we're hopefully finding out this week what we're having this time around. When people ask us if we're finding out we get a lot of, "Oh, but that ruins one of life's only surprises" comments.

Bottom line....people s u c k in general, and will give you a hard time no matter what your choice. Don't let it bother you. It's not worth the headache.

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

I'm sorry it's driving you so crazy. I am 23 weeks and we didn't find out. I think it's so funny that people get so crazy about wanting to know what it is...and can't believe that we don't. Of course it would make it easier but I think it's more fun this way, plus it's my choice and I don't really care what other people would prefer in this situ. I do hear from a lot of people that they are glad we are waiting though too. Chat Icon It all goes by so fast so just try to ignore them and enjoy your time.

I agree! People are so annoying!

We know but haven't told anyone. We only found out because DH won't be there when I deliver and I wanted him to know.

I love the "I hope it's a girl" "this family has too many boys" comments I keep getting when I know I am having a Chat Icon !

People suck.

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

Everyone has a comment while your pregnant. You get a comment both ways. I find more people get disappointed when you find out instead of waiting.

We are not sharing the names, and that also drives people nuts. They don't understand why I won't tell anyone. I don't want to tell them its because when I did share a few in the beginning, I got a lot of nasty comments. I find it much easier not telling anyone. No one will tell you anything once the baby is born.

I dealt with that for all my pregnancies. Now I am getting did you try for the girl....ah no I tried for another baby. If it is a boy I will be just as happy as if it is a girl! (I have 2 boys)

People are stupid!

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

We went through the same thing with DS#1. We did not want to find out and no I do not care how "hard" it is to shop for others. Chat Icon

It was the best thing to hear "It's a Boy!" in the delivery room, and I am so glad we waited.

With DS#2, we had to become a little more practical about it as it is our last time, and we are renovating our house. The gender of this baby dramatically drove our decisions as to how the house would be laid out, so we found out.

We didn't find out and I'm so glad we waited. It was such a wonderful surprise. DH actually got to tell me we had a boy. Chat Icon I'm surprised you've gotten a lot of criticism. I always got positive comments from people when I told them we were going to be surprised. Don't worry about what others say. Chat Icon

Re: No I do not want to know what the gender is!!!!

Being a total type A personality, people are suprised that I don't want to know the gender. Their greatest concern is the decoration of the bedroom and the baby clothes. That quite frankly is my last concern. Boy or girl, I will love it no less or no more. Though I generally don't like suprises, this I feel is one of those last little suprises that can wait. People just don't get it. I just reply with a short and simple "we want to be suprised", and put a huge smile on. Most people don't ask again.

I classify this annoying question with the questions I got when I was getting married. How big is your ring? How much did it cost? How much are you paying per plate? Are you parents paying for the wedding? I could get annoyed and ****** off, but it is so not worth it. People are nosy plain and simple.
