No heartbeat at 6 weeks 4 days...
My friend is devastated. She got pregnant through IVF and didn't see a heartbeat today (just a sac). She is 6 weeks and 4 days. I know that some are late growers. Did anyone see a heartbeat later than this?

I'm not really sure about seeing a HB after 6w4d but I wanted to say I'm so sorry for your friend. I had IVF also and I would have been devasted as well if I were in her shoes. Poor girl

I'm sorry to hear that about your friend, maybe she is not that far along as she thinks, she could of ovulated later? My was first appt was at 6w4d and we did see a heartbeat but everyone is different.

I feel really bad. This was her third attempt (one fresh, two frozen). Now she is out of eggs. She needs to stimulate again. The first time she did she ended up in the hospital from OHSS. What a nightmare.

i dont think its totally abnormal to NOT see a HB at 6w4d, she could also be minus a few days! dont loose hope yet!

My doc didn't even do a sonogram when i first went at 6W5d. He did one at 7W5d.
Sometimes at that time it's too early..

I thought that the heartbeat is only heard at around 8 weeks and that's why alot of dr's will only see patients after 8 weeks. I know when I went to make my first appointment, they made it for what they estimated as my 8th week and she even said that they won't see anything really until then. So, I think it might still be too early and she shouldn't be too worried unless her dr says to be.

I had my first sono at 6wks 1day and no HB went back at 6wks 4days and HB was there It may be a few days too soon for her to see the HB I will say a prayer but I have a good feeling its just too soon!!

Could be a late implanter and at that point everyday makes a huge difference. Praying for your friend! We saw the HB at 6 days but it wasn't guaranteed we would and it was so so faint!

Tell her not to give up hope yet. It's possible that it was tough to see the heartbeat still----maybe they got a weird angle or maybe it is just too early.

With IVF you definately know how far along you are. There really is no guessing game with it.
However, with that said, it could be a late implanter. This happened when I got pregnant with my DD (also IVF). We didn't see the heartbeat, but they had me come in a couple of days later and there it was. She is now 12 months old!

I know it's hard, but please tell her not to worry.
My midwife wouldn't give me a sonogram until after 8 weeks because they might not hear anything. 6 weeks is still very early .
