no AF yet
ladies i need your advice.
i wasn't sure where else to post this because we are not TTC yet but will be later this year.
DS has been weaned for about a month now and STILL no AF. he is over 6 months old. i have occasional light cramping but nothing like AF. not spotting at ALL. i already took a bunch of PG tests and they all came up negative.
i have an appointment with my OB tomorrow. i know they can do a sono in-office to check for cysts, but they would have to send me out for bloodwork. is there any testing i should ask for? i am actually pretty concerned at this point, and i have a feeling that my OB might brush me off and tell me to wait, but i want to be proactive. any advice would be great!!

Re: no AF yet
sorry you are going through this.. it must be so frustrating..
its good that you are going to the OB to see what is going on.. i would think besides the sono they will do some bloodwork on you.. they did this with me even with me being a week late.. and you have a much bigger situation that that...
i hope you get answers.. i am so sick of OB's who just blow everything off.. it makes me so mad..
good luck.. and let me know how it goes!

Re: no AF yet
I'm guessing they will do a sono and bloodwork... that should give them an idea of what's going on.
You might need Provera to kind of jump start your cycle again...
Just ask what's normal, what you should expect, what to do next, and what to do if this happens again (missing AF).
Oh and you are ALWAYS welcome here!

Re: no AF yet
If you haven't yet, I might cross-post on parenting. As far as I know - it's very normal for it to take a while for AF to return after breastfeeding....maybe the parenting board might be able to tell you how long is "normal" as well as your dr. will probably tell you. Hopefully after the dr. appt you will get some answers.....

Re: no AF yet
hiya! Don't go crazy yet, I would actually be patient at this point, although I know-hard to do. My first 2 AF's came like clockwork, this third one-12 days late . Me and DH were each day.
She finally came, I guess my body was just still out of wack. You can go to the doctor, but they might just tell you to wait still.

Re: no AF yet
I am thinking it might be a hormonal change since you stopped BFing. They definitely can jump start you-it just might take a month or two to regulate. Good luck!

Re: no AF yet
We are in a little bit of a different situation.
But as you know I am still BFing Ryan (8.5 months). At 7 months we moved him into his crib and subsequently started sleeping through the night.
A week before he turned 8 months I got AF.
I think even though you weaned a month ago, your body just needs to balance out the hormones and get on track.
I really wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Especially since (as far as I know) you have never had cysts, endometryosis {sp?}, etc prior to Luca.

Re: no AF yet
hi everyone - thanks for the advice.
my OB seems to think that the mini pill is preventing me from getting AF.
so i am going to stop taking it soon and see what happens. she said if i haven't gotten AF a month after stopping the pill she will send me for bloodwork.
the earliest we will TTC is July so i have some time.
thanks again for letting me crash
