Night waking - 3.5 yo

For the past month or so my 3.5 has been waking up several times a night crying. He had had night terrors a while back when he was around two and while these are similar, they are a little different - instead of being completely out of it, he is asking for things, like his blankie, his baby etc. he is not complaining of any pain or anything. It started when he had an ear infection but he finished his antibiotics two weeks ago and seems otherwise fine. Anyone? I am worried about him and my husband and I haven't slept this poorly since they were newborns!

DS did the same when he was about 2.5yo. It was a phase that he outgrew, but we helped him through as best we could. For us, buying DS a nightlight helped immensely. Have you tried that?

My son (Also 3.5) gets like that when he is sick. We are in the middle of a "spell" right now. He also had bad night terrors from 10 months till almost 2. It usually passes for us in 2 weeks.

Same issue was happening over here. We couldn't sleep and he would either ask for things or come into our bed. We did what I feel was like a "cry it out". Ignored his requests and told him that he was okay and to go to sleep. He got mad/cried for about 7 minutes, yawned and gave up. He stopped trying to get us to come in now. He tried coming into our room and I quietly just put him back in bed. He cried, tried coming out of his room tantruming but we ignored him. He again, gave up and went back into his room and shut his door to go back to bed! It was a great feeling and we've had some great uninterrupted sleep since! It was like a sleep training refresher lol
