Newborn sleeping set up

What was the sleeping arrangement with your new born?

I have a bassinet but I’m not sure if I want to keep it or exchange for a Halo Bassinet (great if I end up with a CS) or an Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper.

I currently have a Rock N Play that I’m nervous that DH or I will knock into in the middle of the night if we put the baby in it to sleep. Also, isn’t it kind of low to the ground? Our bed is high (I’m short and my feet do not touch the bottom of the box spring when I sit on the edge of the bed)

Putting the baby in bed with us is not an option. We are both restless sleepers and feel we don’t have enough room WITHOUT a newborn in the bed.

with DD we had a bassinet in our room for about 5 weeks...then she went in the crib in her own room

DS was in our room for 1 week in the bassinet, then into the crib in his own room

DD slept in a bouncy seat in our bedroom for a while- because to be honest, she never really slept, just dozed and screamed and cried constantly.
A few months in we got a rock and play and she stayed in that in our room until she was about 6 months old- then to her crib

I had DD in a Rock N Play for the first two weeks while i recovered from my CS (it was easier for me to bend and lift her in that) then into the crib right after that.

DS was in our room in a bassinet for two weeks. I was getting no sleep. He was such a loud breather. He went into his crib at two weeks and has been there since.

My DD was in a rock n play in our room and I didn't like having to reach down to get her. It was hard with my csection. Also, she got very used to sleeping in such a cozy inclined position and it was very hard transitioning her to sleeping flat in her crib. With our next baby we plan to get the halo bassinet. I like how easy it seems to get to the baby, even with a csection, and I like that the baby will be sleeping flat from the start so hopefully it will be easier to transition to the crib when the time comes.

I had the bassinet in my room next to my bed for three months. Then he went to the crib. I was sad when he went to the crib lol! He was such a good sleeper - and still is - it was nice having him next to me. But I had a CS and the bassinet was fine.

Rock n Play.

DD1 we had in the RNP in our room for 5 weeks. The transition into the crib was seamless.

DD2 is 8 days old and we have her in the RNP as well. I am sleeping on the couch because I have a very high bed that I need a step stool to climb into and I am not comfortable doing it just yet (C Section). So the first few nights, she slept in my bedroom in the RNP w/ DH. The last couple of nights, she's been in the living room with me. We plan on transitioning her at 5 weeks.

As I said, I have a high bed that I need a step stool to climb into. I never had an issue with the RNP getting in the way. I would climb into bed and then lean over and pull the RNP close to the bed. Then when I had to get up, I'd push it out of the way and climb out.

I'm a huge fan of the co sleeper especially if you plan to breastfeed. Both dc were in it for 4 & 5 months. I have a high bed and the extension legs were perfect. It was a seamless transition to the cribs because it's basically a smaller version.

We bought a real mattress for the pack n play & set it up right next to our bed, on the higher level so I can reach him easily. So it's like a mini crib. We use the most basic pack n play, no bells & whistles. It's worked out great. He's 4 months old & still sleeps in it right next to our bed... I'm in no rush to put him in a crib because I need to be able to hear him as he still bf's in the early morning.

Dd slept in a porta crib in my room next to my bed for the first eight months. I bf and it only took a few seconds to pick her up.

Dd1 rock n play in our room. 7 weeks went into crib in her room

The rock n play is great! Yes it's low to the ground and I also have a high bed. It's fine. It's super cozy for them, on an incline and it's inexpensive not easily folds to go from room to room or take to others homes.

Don't waste your money on a bassinet you will barely use.

Edited to add we had an absolutely seamless transition to the crib both times. Both were sleeping 8-9 hours by 2 months. And I also bf and it's no big deal to get up to go to their rooms since they weren't up every few hours.

We mainly used the bassinet but put her in the rock n play if we needed a good 5 hours straight of sleep - sometimes after a middle of the night feeding. I didn't want her to get too used to sleeping in a reclined position. She had no trouble adjusting to crib only around 12 weeks, and sttn at that point.

The rock n play is low and I have an insanely high bed. It worked fine, I just peered down at dd. I also had a c-section, and just pulled the bassinet way up to the side of the bed and it was fine.

I co-slept because that was the only way I could get any sleep. I have a high bed too and to pick DD up from the rock and play was a nightmare. It was so difficult to pick her up and put her in.

If I ever have another DC I will get a co-sleeping bassinet.

My baby girl is 10 weeks now, she started out in the cradle but has reflux so at 2 weeks old I was told I needed to prop up the mattress in the cradle and never have her lie flat. This wasn't an option since I propped the mattress and she moved too much so her arms were hanging out between the bars. So I moved her to the rock n play and she's been in there ever since. She'll sleep in the pack n play or crib as well, she doesn't seem to care. But just bc of her digestion issues, she'll be in the rock n play until she grows out of it.

I couldn't do the stairs after my csection for about 3 weeks, so 5 days in nicu isolette and then bassinet, then 2 weeks in pnp, and then right into the crib. He did amazing.

Rock N Play was a lifesaver... With my DS he hated his bassinet and would not sleep in the crib so he was in the Rock N Play until about 8 weeks when we moved him to the crib.

My DD is almost 11 weeks and I have been trying to put her down in the crib, sometimes she stays but sometimes she starts crying as soon as I put her down and then have to move her to the RNP.

We used the Rock N Play for both DD and DS. Worked great next to our bed or in the living room.

We used the Arm's Reach co-sleeper, but as a bassinet. We didn't attach it to the bed to co-sleep. I liked that it was on wheels and that the height is adjustable and it was easy to clean.

I did the RNP until 6 weeks and then the bassinet until 12 weeks and then to the crib in my room until 16 weeks. I moved her crib into her own room at 16 weeks and she has been there since.

Rock n play first three months. Honestly. Best to have incline for spit up and reflux. I feel my last two slept muxh better cause of it. Its pretty stable. Push it a little farther from bed if you want. Don't put it near your feet.hubby once ended up with his foot on it when he kicked his leg off couch during a nap
