Newborn mommas

How are you guys doing? How old is your DC? How are you healing? How are you coping with this life change? Did you get the baby blues?

ETA: If you are breastfeeding, how is it going?

We are doing okay. Just okay, because she has a really bad cold and it's breaking my heart and I feel guity because she defintey caught it from me.

DD will be 6w tomorrow. Can't believe it!

Healing - pretty awesomely, I have to say. I had an unplanned C/S and my scar looks great!

Coping - I think pretty well, surprisingly lol. I did not get the baby blues. Also surprising to me because I have had pretty significant anxiety and depression over the past 15 years. But no baby blues at all. I'm almost worried that I didn't have them!

ETA: I'm BF'ing and FF'ing. I don't have enough of a supply to EBF, despite all the supplements I am taking. I had a breast reduction 10 years ago, which is likely the primary culprit. I give her what I can, at least 6 times a day.

I'm doing OK. DD is 10 days old today and I'm having a hard time with the Baby Blues. I was looking up some posts on here about the baby blues and realize that many people have the same exact symptoms, cry for no reason at night, scared and depressed thinking about DH going back to work, feeling lonely even when you have a good support system, etc. I know it's normal but I'm having a hard time dealing. DH is so patient with the baby. I, on the other hand, cry when she cries. I get so upset when she cries because I feel like I should know what's wrong with her and how to calm her but I'm so clueless. I'm just feeling very overwhelmed.

I am breastfeeding and it's going pretty good so far. She will go 3-4 hours at a time and then cluster feed at other times. Ped. said that was OK bec. it will even out but not to let her go past 4 hours. I think she is getting enough for now but I have to remember to eat and drink water to keep up my supply but I have no appetite at all.

I'm healing well. Feeling better every day but still a bit sore.

DS will be 7 weeks Wednesday. We are doing good, but he has painful gas and is now showing signs of silent reflux. B/c of this, I feel we have no schedule. I EBF on demand, and he sleeps best with me, so I get no sleep. I am EBFing and pumping once a day, which we are freezing or I leave with DH if I need to run out. When I do, he'll only take about an ounce or two from the bottle. Despite all this DS is a smily giggling boy. He coos all the time, and mimics your face and sounds. He loves his play mat and his mobile (doesn't love the crib though.) He tolerates his swing and bouncy seat, and we are getting used to the Moby. He goes to two classes at the library and a play group, which help me have some structure to my day, LOL. I had my postpartum check up today, and have healed completely (after a rough delivery), but the doctor mentioned I seemed sad. I explained to him just exhausted. I did have some crying bouts in the beginning, but it was more like I couldn't believe how much I love DS (still can't) combined with sheer exhaustion. I also cry whenever I think of going back to work in January, but luckily DH will be with him till April. I think it is normal to cry and feel hopeless when they cry. You want to protect them so much, and it is so hard to see them upset or in pain. We have DS's 2 month shots 12/15, and I will probably need to be sedated.

Oh and I had no appetite in the beginning either, plus when I did start to eat, he would cry to be held or to eat. It did help get the pregnancy weight off though. I was overweight to begin with, so I still have weight to lose, but I weigh less than I did when I got pregnant now.
