Newbie question

Hi, I did an ovulation calender and got an opk. Which days of your cycle do you ovulate. Is it generally the same for everyone, or does it vary greatly???

Once you ovulate how many days are you fertile for???

Thanks

Re: Newbie question

You are most fertile the days leading to ovulation, not after you've ovulated - by then it's too late.
My O date varied from as early as CD12 to CD17 or so - so yes, it def. can vary by person and individually. Some women have longer cycles and therefore they O a lot later.

They say sperm, in an IDEAL environment, can live up to 5 days. Personally, I think that's pushing it. I would say you're most fertile the 2-3 days before ovulation, and obviously the day of.
Some like to BD the day after ovulation too, just in case there is a chance the egg is still there. So, that's pretty much a 5 days straight of BDing, unless you know of a sperm issue.

Re: Newbie question

Ovulation dates definitely vary between people and can vary from month to month in your cycle. This is why charting and OPK's are helpful. I have a 30 day cycle and last month I O'd on CD 17. Your fertile period includes the days leading up to and including ovulation. Once O has taken place, the egg only lives for 12-24 hours.
