Newbie help

Hi everyone,

Like many others out there, DH and I are trying for our first baby..yayy but shhh you all are the only ones who know :)

I am so happy I found this forum because I need some help.
I went off of BC for the first time in 10 years this past May. Towards the end of being on the pill my periods were so light I hardly had to use anything. (I went on the pill bc my periods were so bad). Now being off I am hardly getting anything, last month on the 32 day after being off the pilll I had (TMI) light brown discharge that lasted a couple of days and now again 32 days later it's the same. I took a test and both times they came up negative. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow because I don't even know if I am Ovulating. Anyone ever expierence this?

TIA..

Re: Newbie help

best thing for you to do is either use opk's or have bloodwork done by your dr to confirm ovulation. good luck.

Re: Newbie help

It took me a few months for AF to regulate after I came off the pill. But I'd call the dr just to keep him/her in the loop.

Thanks!! I was going to try the OPK's this month. I agree the best is to def call my doctor hopefully they can at least help me figure something out. So fustrating to not be in control.

Thanks again!

Re: Newbie help

i dont think a dr will have much to tell you - its still your body adjusting to no more birth control pill

as other ladies suggested, i would buy OPKs (there are super cheap ones on amazon) and i would also start temping this way you can really learn your cycle. if you see you arent ovulating based on your temperature (that is the only true way to know if you ovulated - even the opk can be wrong) then call your dr

good luck

Re: Newbie help

temping was the best for me!! It helped me figure out my cycles- this will give you an idea of when you ovulate each month. It is super easy too- you just have to remember to do it each morning, then you enter your temp into fertilityfriend.com (they also have an iphone app as well)

Thanks!! I am temping at the same time everyday. I canceled my dr's appt once I got my period because there was nothing he could tell me at that point anyway.

I will def try the OPK's. Is there a specific one I should look for? Thanks for all your help.

Re: Newbie help

I definitely think you should temp and take notice of your CM. This really helps to see if you are ovulating.

I used Fertility Friend when we conceived our DS and now I'm using the app on my phone to keep track of everything.

Also, have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? Helps to get to know your body and what you should be looking for to see if you're ovulating and has charting help.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Thanks, I will get the book today! I was using the OPK's and there were a couple days when the stick lines were very dark, but because my cycle was 68 days last time I dont really know how long it will be this cycle.
