New York State Short Term Disability

Question:

Does the 6 (0r 8 week for c section) disability have to start immediatly following your delivery?

In other words if I have 2 weeks paid vacation coming to me from my company and I want to sign up for disability, can I start disabilty after my 2 weeks paid vacation and still be entitled to 6 weeks disability? or do i need to take disability first for 6 weeks then get my vacation time? Or do the 2 weeks vacation time get substracted from the 6 weeks?
