hey ladies Chat Icon

i'm new here and was hoping you could help me by answering a few questions.

my husband and i have decided to try for our first baby.

i recently went to the gyno for a check up.. all good!

i also bought the clear blue easy ovulation kit (with the smileys). this is where i'm a little confused. according to the instructions, i was supposed to start testing on the sixth day of my cycle. when i tested, i got low fertility. am i supposed to test every day? b/c i didn't, lol. i tested the day after and i got high fertility. however, according to an app i have on my phone, it says that i'm not fertile until march 14th. which is correct?

also, should i start taking prenatal vitamins? if so, which kind?

any other advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

looking forward to talking to you ladies.

IMO if you really want to know your cycle I would temp. Once you know your cycle you can test with an OPK and only have to do it for a day or two because you will know your body buy then....unless you have other issues going on and have crazy different cycles each month.

My other advice is to NEVER NEVER read into things. You will swear up and down XXX has never happened before but I bet it has you just never noticed.

GL!!

Welcome and good luck. The apps will likely just take the middle day of your cycle and call it O day. I would trust the opk over the app, especially if you're new to charting. My doctor told me to start prenatals once I came of BC. He said any over the counter is fine as long as it has folic acid and dha. I take the CVS brand and they've agreed with me just fine. Hope your stay is short!

Also, I never test on CD 6. I have 31 day cycles and it's too early for me. I look out for secondary symptoms like cm, sore boobs, ovary pain..I usually start to test at cd 10 or 11. But everyone is different :)

I don't test on day 6 either. I start testing cd10. And test everyday until I get a smiley. I have a 28 day cycle. Also, I test between 3pm-7pm and hold my pee for 3-4 hours before testing. This is my second cycle following "deannas plan" I think a few girls on here follow it too. You can google it.

Yes, start prenatals right away. I always use store brand too. They are usually buy one get one. Gl

This, it's insane what happens to your cycle once you start TTC. I know you said your cycle is shorter, but just wait, once you start TTC and focusing you're going to have a 30 day cycle and you'll swear it never ever ever happens. Unfortunately, it's what happens when TTC.

No, I would try testing early (cd6) and see when u get a smiley.

I heard it's best of opk to test in the afternoon. I think other girls can confirm this

This! Sorry to confuse you! If your cycles are in the low twenties day 6 is probably a good start date. Mine are longer so 6 is way too early for me..I'm like just finishing up AF on day 6 lol, sorry for the TMI.

Also in the beginning it doesn't hurt to use FMU and retest in the afternoon. I've heard ladies who can get a reading with FMU and others with evening. I think it really depends on the individual.
