new siding question..... please give opinion!
This is for my mom's house. We're getting her front siding and windows done.
Her house is a large colonial with cedar shingles on 3 sides (not being replaced), and a red roof. On the front of the house, the middle 1/3 of the house is unpainted brick (same color as roof).
Currently the front siding is white and there are shutters on the upper windows.
So, we're thinking about colors for siding/windows. All of us think the siding must stay white becuase there are already a couple colors going on (cedar shingles and bricks / red roof). DH and I prefer windows w/o shutters. But, windows w/o shutters usually look much nicer with colored siding (when the white frames 'pop' against the siding). White windows with white siding sounds sort of blah. should we get black shutters? should we go shutterless? Mom is leaving detail decisions like this up to us, since she wants to give us the house some day.
sorry, no house pic. (I'll try to take one on tues when I next go there.)

BRICK + WHITE SIDING = BLACK SHUTTERS.
(just my opinion...) i like that look.
probably go for Red too.... looking forward to pictures

yeah, I'll take one on tues. The house is rather formal and traditional inside and out, so red shutters wouldn't really go.
We were hoping to get rid of the shutters  sigh. but I think we'd have to redo all of the shingles with siding, and that likely would cost an extra 40k+
