So, this project is taking on a life of its own. We initially thought that we would have some working mechanics in the house but it seems as though we were wrong. The house will need to be gutted so we are in the process of doing so and reassessing our plans.
Here are some update pics of the progress so far. I'm not sure if I'm suppose to be bringing this post back or starting a new one so if this is the wrong way please let me know...lol. Image Attachment(s):

I am so happy to see this house get the TLC it needed
I have been to a lot of bank owned houses in that area and this one was always one of my favorites!
Can't wait to see the final results!

NostressBride - I believe it was in the early 1900s but there were renovations done by previous owner. I think towards the end of their ownership of the property it was severely neglected. Also, it looks like they were renting it out in rooms which is why some of the rooms have signs of newer sheetrock while others have original cement like substance.

Beth, coming in I couldn't understand why the house sat on the market soo long. As soon as I saw the house I stalked the neighborhood for a couple of weeks while my offer was being reviewed by the bank.
I'm assuming it's because the home is in Freeport but this is South Freeport so I would think someone else would have the vision to realize that the property can be revitalized with the right TLC. I'm actually happy that they didn't since I would not have the house right now...hahaha.
It is a HUGE project though...lol.
I actually didn't want to post pics originally because god knows how many people have been in and out the house already.

Wow, I grew up in Freeport. I'll have to drive around and look for your house. What an amazing staircase!!!
There are so many old and beautiful homes in Freeport, I'm really gald you had the vision to buy one and restore it

You house looks HUGE, AMAZING, and full of CHARACTER!!!
I love older homes that have a lot of character that you just don't see anymore.
This is going to be one fun remodel... for us... because we don't have the actual work to do, we just get to live through pictures!!!
