New Kitten - PLEASE HELP

Last night my dh brought home a kitten that he found on the street...I can't tell how many weeks he is but he seems to be around 4 weeks old.

We plan on keeping him - but I'm not sure I know how to raise a kitten - Chat Icon He woke up 3x's last night crying bc he wasn't near us...as soon as I picked him up - he nozzled into my arms and fell back to sleep. This am as I was leaving he was crying - My heart was breaking...

We blocked him off in the kitchen for now with some food and water and a liter box. I also left a blanket for him to sleep on...is there anything else I need to do for him?

Will he stop crying when we aren't there? I felt so guilty leaving him Chat Icon

I remember when Stormy was a kitten Chat Icon

Sounds like you have everything he needs - don't forget some toys...

ETA - Stormy cried ALL day, almost everyday his entire life for me, so no - I don't think he will ever stop crying (my landlords would always hear him cry - luckily they always liked cats)

You should bring him to the vet ASAP. We were given a 3 week old kitten, and since she shouldn't have been weaned yet, she was on special food with extra nutrition. Also he will need shots and to be wormed. Worms are very dangerous for kittens.

After a while he'll get used to being alone. When you're home carry him around a lot and spend a lot of time holding him and you'll have a lap cat!

Maybe leave some music on...I do that for chloe when I am gone overnight! Makes them feel like someone is there with them.

Get him some toys - I gave jack a fleece Eeyore I had and he always would cuddle with it when we were gone

Bring him to the Vet asap. Your vet can make sure he is ok, and also give you deworming medicine.

You can get KMR MIlk replacement. Based on the kitty's weight, you mix the powder with water. I used warm water, and Jack loved it when he was a little guy. It would put him to sleep Chat Icon
