New here! Question about alcohol consumption

New here!!
Married 3 years and have been trying for a few months now. The thing I find most frustrating is that a lot of my friends are single or married and not TTC and expect me to have a few cocktails when we go out and also my family members are always having parties where everyone has a few drinks. Obviously, when I know I'm pregnant I will stop drinking but I'm curious about the in-between time. I have two questions:
1- how bad is alcohol between conception and implantation? And 2- how bad is alcohol consumption between implantation and BFP reading?

I have read so many varying opinions on this and just feel confused. I have also read people say that if you can't give up alcohol totally then you're too selfish to have a child.... To those people I say F off because this process can take months or even years and also, it's stressful enough without and saying no to a drink here and there will only make people skeptical and have them expect me to be or become pregnant which is even more stressful!!

All advice welcome :) thanks ladies!

Personally, I wouldn't, and haven't, given up alcohol until I get a BFP. But you should just do whatever you are most comfortable with. I don't think it harms the baby that early on, but I could be wrong about that...

Re: New here! Question about alcohol consumption

Me, along with all my friends/family members that have TTC over the years never cut alcohol out of their life while TTC. Of course we all stopped the moment we knew we were pg, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

The embryo does not start sharing a blood supply with the mother until later on (at least 6 weeks or so)...and by that point most women know they are pregnant. I would enjoy your drinks! just my advice!

This exactly. Don't stop living your life during the 2ww.

Re: New here! Question about alcohol consumption

I refuse to not drink in the event that I'm pregnant and don't know it. If I were to find out I'm pregnant (meaning after a missed period and a pregnancy test), then I will give it up.

Just think of all the women who got pregnant by accident over the years. They obviously didn't purposely cut out drinking and I'm sure their kids are fine.

I'm drinking right up until the moment I get my BFP! LOL.

I'm not a huge drinker, but I enjoy a glass of wine for dinner occasionally during the week. The holidays has definitely increased my drinking. I'm currently in my 2ww and will be having a NYE party tomorrow- I'm drinking and not even thinking twice about it because it may just be my last hoorah! lol. But of course like others mentioned, you have to do what you feel is comfortable.
