New All Access Playground that will cater to special needs
I was at Eisenhower park the other day and I saw a new playground that isn't open yet. I just did some research and it appears there will be a grand opening in May.
It's a playground for all kids but, it is made so that kids with special needs or wheelchair bound kids can play along side all other kids. It sounds pretty amazing. They are putting a handicapped bathroom right next to it also. We peeked through the fence and it looks awesome. Very pretty and neat and so LARGE and engaging.
I just thought I would pass on the information I found. The article said it's the first of it's kind in Nassau.

ETA: I found the grand opening information. Sat., May 5th 11-3. That is marathon weekend. There are a bunch of non-marathon races that day that start in the park. (I am doing my first 5k that day!!! ) So I will actually be at the park. We will be stopping by. It may be a bit crazy in that area because of the races.
it looks like they will have a big event with face painting and other fun stuff. It's says inclusive sports and cheer lesson. Inclusive unicyle training, facepainting, arts and crafts, 5star sports entertainment, and more to be announced.

Where in the park is it? Do you remember which parking field, or what it's near? Thanks!

There are a couple of these in Suffolk, one in Coram (Diamond in the Pines) and one in Centereach (by the pool) that I know about. They look a bit different than what is pictured above, but the entire play structure is connected, and is accessible by ramps.

It is right by the hempstead turnpike entrance. Field 2 I belive. If you come out of the parking lot and face the tennis courts you would walk to the right. The opposite direction of the other playground.

I work with special needs kids, what a GREAT playground. So good to see adapted swings.
