Re: netflix or blockbuster?

blockbuster. Same as netflix but if you get a movie and you don't like it, or finish it and want another one you can return it to the store and get another one on the spot Chat Icon
I hear lots of people are dropping netflix and going with blockbuster now Chat Icon

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

Why use blockbuster over the internet if you are going to go to the store anyway?

The whole reason I got it is so I can avoid rental places.

You don't have to go to the store unless you want to. Otherwise it is the same thing as Netflix with the added benefit of being able to quickly exchange movies or video games if needed.

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

I have no experience with netflix- but we have blockbuster- and its great! We have the package where you get 3 dvds at a time. Its great- because you can either mail them back and get 3 more- or you can return them to the store- get free in-store rentals- and then they also send you more dvds from your list in the mail. We love it!

We've been using netflix for years now. No desire to switch to blockbuster. We've been so spoiled, we're not driving to a video rental place for any reason! Chat Icon

point is you dont HAVE to, but if you dont want to wait 2 days for a new movie, you have that option and its free, so if you have say a 3 movie deal at a time, you can technically get more then that , since in store is free....

Ok so they'll still send you three more after you went to the store and traded for three new ones? Does that mean you end up with 6? Do you pay late fees if you pick them up from the store? Do you have return the ones from the store to the store or can you mail those back?

Me too plus they have more obscure movies (documentaries, foreign films) than Blockbuster.

Yep. I currently have 6 movies from Blockbuster - 3 of them for free.

There are no late fees at Blockbusters anymore unless you keep the movie for over 30 days.

You do have to return the store picked up ones at the store, but everything else gets mailed back.

It's JUST like netflix, but with an extra advantage.

Plus, Blockbuster is starting to negotiate "exclusive" rights to movies, meaning Netflix, Hollywood Video, etc. won't be able to rent them to people.

Yep- they will still send you 3 more in the mail- plus you would get to rent 3 in the store. So, yes you would end up with 6. You do have to return the ones you got from the store in a week- or else you would get late fees. You would definitely have to return the ones you got from the store back to the store- because they are in hard cases, just like if you had a regular blockbuster account. HTH!

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

i like netflix.

i heard that blockbuster carries different versions of some movies and they don't inform you that it's different. they have versions with objectionable material spliced out. like they'll have an R version of an NC-17 movie.

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

I had netflix, and cancelled bc I wasn't sending back the movies for long periods of time and ended up paying more than just renting normally.

This thread just inspired me to sign up for the blockbuster online. There is one right across from my house so the return to store feature will really work for me. To rent in store is $4.99....

we used to use netflix, but now we use blockbuster and LOVE it! you don't ever have to go to the store if you don't want to. it's just an added bonus. if you want to you can get movies faster because you don't have to wait to send the old one back and get a new one sent to you. and as soon as you exchange one in the store they automatically send you the next movie on your queue. but if you don't want to go to the store you can still drop them in the mail just like netflix.

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

I currently have netflix, but my serious problem with them (and I'm considering cancelling) is that the DVDs always come scratched up, to the point that I can't watch the movie, constantly freezing and pixelating. Anyone else have this issue? Or not have this issue with blockbuster?

Re: netflix or blockbuster?

I have joined both at one time,
but recently since blockbuster is local I decided to join them introduced the whole renting movie thing to my DS
but I have to say the web site for blockbuster I feel is more complex then netflix
Well also blockbuster is having a free 2 week promotion so try it...
You have nothing to lose
