Neocate Moms...please come in!
DD is one month old. She was put on Neocate on Friday evening by the ped. b/c she was on Nutramigen for over 2 weeks and still testing positive for blood in her stool. On the Nutramigen, however, gas was not a problem. Now with the Neocate DD is screaming bloody murder with gas pains.
Is this normal?? Is it just a transitional phase b/c we are changing her formula yet again? I'm calling a GI doc tomorrow per my ped's instructions, I was just hoping for some insight from Neocate Mom's. Also, DD was having 6-8 BM's per day on Nutramigen. Now she has only had one per day and it has been dark green
Lastly, DD is now screaming hungry in just under 3 hour increments and takes more at each feeding. Before she would go longer.
Thoughts? Comments? Help!

Re: Neocate Moms...please come in!
Welcome ot the Neocate club!!!
We had to put my DD on Neocate when she was 2 months old. My daughter had a hard time pooping once she started Neocate. We have her on Maylox 3 times a day to help her along (per our GI) - they said it is very binding since there is no fiber in it at all). Once we started that she was fine on it. And yes - her poop is green too.
Ella - also seems to drink less of this than the other formula we tried and she pretty much stayed on the same schedule.
Good luck and I hope the formula works for you
I also have a question for Neocate moms - it seems the formula turns all Ellas' clothing brown and I cannot get it out no matter what I use - any tips?

Re: Neocate Moms...please come in!
Hi, I remember you posting a couple of weeks ago that the Nutramigen wasn't working, so I'm glad to hear that she's on Neocate now. Are you sure she's screaming from gas, or is she constipated? That is 100% common when on this formula. I was not comfortable giving my dd maalox (also recommended by the pediatric GI), so I went with my ped's recommendation of giving 1-2oz. of water a couple of times a day, and I swear that worked wonders. Also, this formula is much thinner than regular formulas, so you'll definitely find that she needs to eat more often and will probably eat more at a feeding. It goes through their system so quickly and easily since and absorbs so completely, so they need to eat more often. The green poop is totally normal, too. Definitely try some extra water and see if that helps her go a couple of more times a day. FM me if you have any other questions.
