Need your opinion- sitter and dogs

My MIL watches my kids. She has 2 dogs. We have 2 dogs. My MIL comes over to my house to watch my kids. My dogs are there but she leaves hers at home.

The rule is when we go away she watches our dogs. When she goes away we watch her dogs.

Next week my MIL is on vacation so I asked my mom to come and watch the kids. My MIL wants us to watch her dogs when she's gone. Normally I don't have a problem but my mom does not like dogs. She has a slight fear of dogs. She 'tolerates' my dogs. I put one in the crate and the other is very well behaved. She has a problem with my MIL's dogs. They don't know her. She is a stranger to them and they bark at her all day long even in the crate. My mom babysat for me last month and all 4 dogs were there and she gave me grief. MIL's dogs barked so much my son let them out of the crate. My mom put them in the yard because she doesn't like them in the house. They barked in the yard. Neighbors complained. She tried to put them back in the crate but they won't go in. It was pretty much a disaster. She is not a dog person and is just not good with them.

So.... my question is should I ask my MIL to put her dogs in a pets hotel while she's gone? Or should my mom just suck it up and ignore their barking.

Also, next weekend we are going away for 2 days and my MIL said she will watch our dogs. Should I just put my dogs in the pets hotel too to avoid any hard feelings with my mom and MIL?

i would feel bad asking my mother to deal with 4 dogs again after what happened last time. and for a week? that's a long time. is it possible for the dogs to stay at MIL's house during the day and you take them at night? i'm not sure how far away they live but i know that could be a lot of driving/hassle. maybe split the week into a pet hotel for a few days and a few days at your house/MIL's house?

can you leave MIL's dogs @ their own house while your mother is at your house ? drop by in the am, then pick the dogs up on the way home.

I dont think your mom should have to listen to 2 dogs barking at her all day.

I personally think that's way too much to ask of your Mom -

is there any way you can take the kids to HER house for those few days, and keep the dogs crated at yours?

I think if you want your MIL to watch your dogs, you need to watch her dogs otherwise it will cause a rift. And you don't want to spoil a good thing considering she watches your dogs. I have 2 dogs, and my MIL watches them. So I understand to some extent. Not sure what you should do but I do think you should NOT tell your MIL you can't watch them and then also think she will then watch yours. Can your mom watch your DC in her own house, to avoid the dogs? I assume you are working and that's when this will all take place?
